The internet isn't a safe place for children. Parenting is required.https://youtu.be/WcjShOalSTg?si=AA2_MbuRYpJZosBU
oohboy made a good video about this. If you still think FF14 is a safe place for children you should 100% watch it.

Have your child play Lala (spin off from ff11s Taru Taru. I don't get bothered by the darkside of FF. Infact I haven't since it began.
On topic, if your in a conjesyed server you have 4 choices:
1. You ask your child to make a character on a none congested server and you all pay to move to them.
2. You ask your child to make a character on your data centre and use the world travel feature (you lose access to retainers and a few other functions)
3. Wait till the server opens, but know the server your talking about that might take awhile.
4. All make new characters and run through MSQ together - if your child doesn't like it you go back to your original character
*jigsaw voice* the choice is yours ♡
Yes, lets supervision childs 24/7 because its that easy.
Did you always had your parents sitting next to you while you were playing games? Because I know for a fact that I and many others didnt in our early teen age. No parent would expect this amount of degeneracy from an 13+ Online RPG. If there is a MMORPG that needs this 24/7 "parenting" its for sure only FF14 in 2025.
Babe this thread has spun from a parent asking how he can join his child in FF14 when the server they are on is congested to parenting a child online (GCBTW)Yes, lets supervision childs 24/7 because its that easy.

This parent has the input and all this really isn't needed. I don't care how you parent, I don't care how they parent. This comment is very silly and belongs on mums net.
Honey, when I was 13 the internet hadn't been invented yet. And yet by that age everyone was well aware of how sex worked, that "courtesans" existed, and that taking candy from strangers was a bad idea.Yes, lets supervision childs 24/7 because its that easy.

The "degeneracy" that you refer to is not something that appeals to me in the slightest. Equally, it is completely invisible to me because I play vanilla.
If a parent decides they do not wish their 13 year-old to play FFXIV, that is their decision. The game does make explicit or heavily implicit references to topics including prostitution, sex trafficking and r@pe. When a child is ready to be exposed to such themes varies between cultures and families.
But the parenting required here is simply to check your kid isn't modding, and to give them the same general warnings they should receive for using any form of social media. TikTok, IG, et al are a far greater risk than FFXIV.

...dont cough. REPORT the hell out of them, get them off our game, especially as they are shameless and dont even try to hide it.
Mare was the breaking point for me, it being this broad and open... its like having some middle aged dude selling drugs to kids on school grounds but we choose to ignore him as we dont buy em...
I don't know why the conversation has become about mods and the behavior some people engage in
If they have been playing since around 2013, especially on crystal, then surely they are already well aware
to answer the original question, you'd need to check the server status and whether it allows for the creation of new characters
there's a patch coming up so it might change then
Or make him a character in same same data centre but different server.he can always travel to your server when requiredThank you so much for your reply! I'll look into the world transfer, and if it doesn't suit what we are looking for, I'll just bite the bullet and pay for an account. As I understand it, we can get him on the server with the recruit a friend (hopefully that's right!)
Have a wonderful day.
Nothing to do with thread at hand .take your trolling elsewhereAre we now denying that ERP's are advertising their cringe ERP stuff public and in a loop? No matter what you do ingame you get confronted with it on a daily basis. MSQ, browising the Party Finder or just chatting with friends in limsa. You cant unsee it. FF14 is by far not a safe place for children even though its advertised as a 13+ game in most countries.
Someone telling your kid to "get cancer" in wow is by far not as bad as some h*rny cringelord cybergrooming your child.
guys.... this parent's question was answered on the FIRST PAGE, there is no need repeating the same answers over and over as this does not need to be on the first page that bad.
also the extremely off topic change in discussion is.... gross, you are being gross that is the only i can put it. the kid's age was never mentioned but here you guys gather to act like a toddler is about to waddle into a night club all alone, while in reality this kid is most likely in his early teens and will be playing with his parent's/family/family friends, the seedy underbelly of this game is really not that in your face and the shout adds while annoying won't scar this kid for life, also this is a free trial account, no one mentioned will be looking at the PF anyway.
this is a parent who has played for years with his wife and is in an fc full of people he clearly trusts to be around his kid, he has had another child play the free trial before (again no age given, but clearly nothing went horribly wrong there) and now asked for help with a more technical issue... which again, was answered.
the kid will be playing with his parents (and other trusted adults), the parents most definitely helped make the account and will be supervising him as needed (it's an online game it's obvious to keep an eye out), they've already had another child of theirs play the game so they even got experience on this, they've both been playing for a really long time with their fc existing for almost as long, if the ERP scene was even remotely as bad as some of you act like the parents will be aware and in the end it's their kid to make a decision on if he can play this or not.
sorry for long post but the TLDR; the question asked has already been answered, some of you need to chill with your "ERP bad" crusade and lastly stop trying to parent for the parents, they know their kid, you don't.
