Thread: Mentor Advancement

Can you implement new cheeves for Mentors. Possibly new rewards. Maybe levels of mentors with new Icons. Would like to see more. People want the crown and keep it, maybe change the meaning instead of just getting everything maxxed out. Perhaps recerts to keep it or more grinding. Mentor exclusive weapons or glammies?

I'm all for more Mentor-based rewards, but I'd like to see an overhaul to the Mentor system among other things, first. As long as our dear Burger King crown mentors just walk around and complain about certain duties in mentor roulette and just try to get the easiest duties for their stuff and basically avoid "mentoring", I kinda don't see a lot of point in rewarding it any further.

I always considered mentor about helping people and not rewards... I'd love them to change the burger thing to something more modest and less ostentatious (I turn it off outside mentor roulette because it looks so "look at me").

It having rewards was flawed to begin with. It "had a reward" and thus is "something to work towards". I did it because I was really bored in endwalker so I donned the burger king crown. The system could use a rework, though hell if I know what it is supposed to be at this point. Even players have unrealistic demands on what it is supposed to be.

"Mentors do this, mentors are supposed to do that! Omg you're so egotistic, it's what I expected out of a mentor! Typical mentor behavior!". I've played since 3.2 I've seen it all. The roulette is a good idea, in practice. But when a sizeable amount of the results are main story roulette (which over 90% of players DO NOT need), guildhests (outdated content that shouldnt even allow commendations), and then... extremes (a different matter altogether). I've carried some people to victory in things like thordan extreme and even the one titania extreme I ended up in. Doesn't matter how kind you are there's always going to be players who shun any and all advice regardless how it is presented. Of course then we got players who think "more skilled" players are out to get them for... some reason. All of this makes the mentor system a mess held together by duck tape.

tl;dr It doesn't need rewards. You don't even need a crown to be helpful. At best it allows access to a backfill roulette. I caught a titantic sawfish for someone randomly in heavensward. Does that need a crown? No.

I don't think icons etc would be good. I don't even wear my crown cause I think it looks tacky. (I so wear my title cause I earned that)

Instead the crown should be put into a watering can - for the sprouts.

I think leave the achieves where they are and don't add anymore. (I worked hard for my 2k horsey) just leave it there for ppl that want to help.

Mentors already get enough crap as it is.

The main aim should always be to help new players instead of just abusing the system for rewards .

You do have to recert every expansion for battle mentors, but I'm not sure what else they can ask for unless they come up with a mentor version of Hall of the Novice with a written exam or something.

Personally, I'm on team "mentors should have a watering can icon" anyway.
