    That makes sense. Especially if the damage from the busters isn’t trivial like in normal difficulty content.

    Maybe it would also be fun if the random damage could lead to MT running out of cooldowns and then the tanks needing to swap. It hasn’t happened in my time raiding (since Endwalker), and in PF this could probably be communicated through chat macros, jumping a lot, or just pressing Shirk. It would also make OT be more than just an easier melee dps that occasionally gives a mit to the MT or takes two-hit busters.

    These days the only tank swaps are when there’s vulnerability debuffs that force a swap for a few seconds (eg. M1S Biscuit Maker, EX3 Prosecution of War) or the occasions where the OT just grabs aggro just for a few seconds to invuln a buster that otherwise would require both tanks to mit and/or swap (eg. both above examples, and also M3S, M4S, M8S…). It would be really nice to have more reasons to swap.

    It feels like in Dawntail’s Savage we’re occasionally having the moments where a mechanic is happening and the boss is doing autos the whole time, but it really ought to be more frequent. These encounters are like 10+ minutes long and it’s hard to remember more than 2-3 moments per encounter where the autos are notable.

    It also does feel a little silly when we have the strong 40% mitigation abilities that can be saved for busters. Then in the occasional case there’s a lot of autos, the player can just press whatever they want as long as the 40% or invuln is not used.

    Eg. M2S: a lot of autos during Beat 1, then a buster soon after that, and then a lot of autos during Alarm 1 right after that. But in practice this isn’t really that threatening because tanks can handle all the autos before and after the buster by using whatever they want other than whichever ability they’re going to use on the buster.

    Tanks need mechanics that last through the entirety of the fight. Crits don't need to be a thing as even when crits did exist, so did awareness. Increase the normal auto damage by a large margin would be better. Giving bosses abilities or passives to get around CD and instead going directly for the players natural / gear defense would be pretty cool too while at the same time upping the effectiveness of tenacity.
