Turn based games are so boring to me I'd deffo unsub if they did this
ff11 is somewhat like that so was 1.0 and 1.0 failed so let's not
Ya, not a bad idea, but jobs still to hard for that. Every role should just have 2 actions. “Attack” and then either “defend” for tanks “super attack” for dps and “heal” for healers.
Personally I don't think turn based would really work in an MMO as you'd be effectively waiting for everyone in the party to "wait their turn" and it would become boring. The problem (IMO) is that there's too much bloat when it comes to abilities/spells - granted, some may like loads of different options but it can also be overwhelming for some.
FFXI (still doing alright after 20+ years) wasn't actually turn based, but it had a much slower pace of combat making it feel more like the pre-FF12 games. You had to build up resources (TP) to unleash a lot of abilities which also resulted in a more relaxed pace.

Neither FFXI nor v1 were close to being turn based. FFXI is menu based, yes, but neither are turn based. The closest thing you got to being turn based was lining up weapon skills and spells to get bursts, but that is still far from a turn based game.
then play ffx if you want that. i like the game how it is. you should be turn based.
as much as i love turn based it would NOT FIT FFXIV AT ALL
not to mention literally the entire game would have to be reworked into a ATB/CTB system.
personally, despite the issues I have with ffxiv's combat system, it's still a GOOD system and i think it's a good compromise between a ATB/CTB system and a XV/XVI/VII remake combat system.
