Why is the game going down every expasion?

I’m a person who loves this game, the world and everything in between but I feel like the game has dropped in quality in story, job indentity(coming from a War main who have seen War get massacred every explosion.I still love War to death but that doesn’t mean I’m blind to the obvious massacre done to it) and in my honest opinion, the localization has gotten worse and people just blindly ignore it because of reasons I don’t know.Yoshi has to wake up and realize the state of the game and whoever is giving him council to be fired. What do others think of the state of the game and what do you dislike that they have have done to it?I’m really curious of what everyone who loves this fantasy world as much as I do thinks.

Something, something bait, but I partially agree. Story and Job Identity went down hill after 5.0.
But what makes you think that Warrior changed for the worse? Warrior got more things added to it than removed for the past 3 Expantions.
That you hit Fell Cleave 3 times + 2 new GCD's instead of 5 times Fell Cleave? That Upheaval doesnt scale with your current HP anymore? That the Storm Eye duration stacks up to 60s?

Warrior do Fell Cleave. You can try and spin that it's ever done much else but in the distant past I was also pressing Fell Cleave > Fell Cleave > Fell Cleave, keeping up the buff, building rage, pressing Infuriate and Berserk/Inner Release.

Job identity has been eroded in favor of "balance" and responding to players who think it's unfair that their job doesn't have something another job does. As far as I've seen, Yoshi-P hasn't even been denying that, although one of the articles that quoted him he said misrepresented what he said.

As for what others think, if you look at literally any other post on these forums you will notice they don't think positively about any of it. Because most people obviously come to the forums to complain.

WAR went down for the worse when they removed gauge management during Inner Release (which is still a thing under Berzerk ironically), among other things.
I'd upvote by calling for people to be fired doesn't vibe well with me otherwise.

Hi, the game goes down every expansion so they can perform server maintenance required to support the expansions new content. It's similar to their patch release maintenance window except sometimes it might take a little longer. Don't worry, the game goes back up shortly afterwards.

Unfortunately, it does seem like there is an innovation lull at the moment. I would like to see them improve a lot of the systems, like the mini games, which other developers have made very engaging. I particularly like the "pipes" puzzles over in wow, there is nothing like that here. Instead we have the same "go emote at this npc three times" and that is apparently what the devs consider engaging.

I am not sure what is happening, but it feels like they don't have the green light to be more creative + the personnel to implement because all we get are the same recycled things over and again with very little variation.

That was a thing until what ... 4.1? 8 Years ago? The majority of the playerbase doesnt even know that IR used to have a 10s duration instead of stacks. I doubt the OP plays this game for this long.

Changing the gapcloser from "costs 20 Gauge, 10s CD" to "3 stacks, 30s CD per stack" was also a mistake that made the job worse, and this is a hill I am willing to die on.

WAR had a lot more things going on in HW/early SB, reducing the class to Fell Cleaves does it a major disservice.

Overall though, I agree with the OP. The devs keep sanding down the ($job) gameplay with each patch and expansion.

FFXIV's decline is nothing special. Every corporate franchise experiences this growth > decline cycle. Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars... all of them. We just get to see it more up close and in real time with MMOs like WoW.

    The corporate franchise death cycle:

First phase: Creation. Original book/comic/movie/game/whatever is created and is an unexpected hit, usually has a fairly low budget.
Second phase: Explosion of popularity. The corporation begins to heavily invest in sequels.
Third phase: Milking. Content is continuing to be made, but the corporation wants to increase profits by lowering costs, so the new stuff is lower budget. A lot of the original creators and writers have disappeared, usually because they've been making the same thing over and over for years and want to move on, or are being stifled by the suits behind the scenes. Writers and producers leaving is the first sign of the end. Visible people like actors leaving the show usually comes deep into the decline.
Fourth phase: Death. Audience interest has disappeared.
Fifth phase: Reboot. Time has past and now it's time to cash in on nostalgia/brand name recognition.

FF14 is in stage 3. The FF franchise arguably reached stage 4 during the 2010s and is dabbling in stage 5 with the FF7 cash grabs.

The lesson to take away from this is not to stake your happiness on corporate franchise media, as you will always be disappointed. They always peak early and go downhill. You just gotta accept that's the way this always goes. Genshin players are now waking up to this cycle too.

Holy... there was nothing good about the 20 Gauge cost. You never used that skill outside of IR every 90s which removed the gauge cost. It was pretty much always more beneficial to just run back to the boss unless you were in narnia which you shouldnt be in the first place on a melee job. I cant think of a single raid in stormblood that required a warrior to peel of the boss entirely. (except maybe HW in o12s while using shit week 1 strats)
Onslaught outside of IR was so niche. You didnt even used it for the gapcloser itself.
