Please update the description of the Far Eastern Performer's Attire shop listing

Hi, I am a Korean player who has enjoyed playing FFXIV for a while now. I have always loved seeing the Korean dev team design outfits based on hanbok and releasing them to the rest of the world.

I was very excited to see the Far Eastern Performer's Attire be added to the online shop. I've seen screenshots of it from the Korean branch of the dev team and I was over the moon. The attire is inspired by pungmulnori, a Korean performance art, and it is one of my favorite things from my heritage.

However, I was disappointed in seeing the listing itself. I wanted to point out that the online store listing for the Far Eastern Performer's Attire in the English shop specifically mentions that there is an "authentic Hingan mask" while listing all the pieces in Japanese. With how Hingashi is clearly Japanese inspired, this is extremely disrespectful towards Koreans, especially given how Korea has had a history of having their culture be erased during Japanese occupation before and during WWII.

This is an issue that I have seen only in the English store, as the other languages merely mention that it is Far Eastern. I would like to request the English localization team to at the very least please update the store description so that any mention of Hingashi is taken out of it.

Even better if the item names themselves were changed so that they were not Japanese because the outfits in question are NOT Japanese and designed by KOREANS. The Mun'gaek Uibok was the romanized version of the Korean name, why couldn't it be done to this outfit?

Please update the shop listing and, if possible, the names of the items as well. This is a very bad look on the English localization team.

I would like for the description to be changed as well. The Ao Dai in game is able to have its Vietnamese name, even with the Nagxians all having Japanese names - why can't the Korean pieces have their romanized Korean names?

Seconding this. I checked the pieces interested to know where it was from, and got confused when I saw it listed with japanese terms??? googling and getting completely different looking results???



Just straight up embarrasing for the team honestly. Do you look at what you type? Do better devs, specially when you all already make most non-Japanese outfits mogstation only. Your lack of care to other Asian cultures is tiring specially after the new expansion announced talked of commitment to respect of other cultures. This should be easy to fix at least

+1 from me. it's incredibly disrespectful, and i'm just an NA player who happens to speak korean. even i know enough about korean culture/the history between korea and japan to know how incredibly tone deaf this is.

I am also a Korean player who was disappointed to see the Far Eastern Performer Attire's shop listing names. The costume is so gorgeous but to see the outfit be described as "Hingan" and the pieces labeled with Japanese terms was upsetting. It would be heartening if the English shop description could be updated and the attire piece names changed as well.

I'd also like to add that while I've only witnessed the English store label the mask as "Hingan" in the shop description, the French and German in game attire pieces' names also use "dogi", "kyakui", and/or "zori"!

i would also like to see the item names adjusted. it is based on a korean outfit for a fantasy game, either stick to fantasy terms or use the correct real world terms

Adding my voice to this! Please update the description to use the proper terms. This would also be a great opportunity to let players who aren't aware of the outfit's real-world origins learn about Korean traditional culture! Please don't let it go to waste!

The issue is that the localization team is made of people who thinks they know your culture better.Look at all of ffxiv localization through the years and if compared to the source you’ll see that this localization team hates the devs’s country

Please remove "Hingan" from the English store page and change the articles of clothing to their proper Korean terms. It is frankly embarrassing to have added in a word that has such implications when it was not in any of the other store pages. It is incredibly negligent.

Please remove the term "Hingan". This should be used as an opportunity to show Korean traditions, it's such a simple change to make.
