The stalkers have fixed their plugin. They have free rein to stalk, but Square Enix is far more concerned with what one or two people on the forums are saying about the issue than actually fixing the game.

saw that the other thread got deleted. these devs really are thin skinned. i thought at best we might get some mention in the 7.3 live letter about how they'll totally, definitely fix the issue this time, but now i doubt we'll even get such a token acknowledgement. these developers do not deserve to have this issue swept under the rug. their blacklist implementation, to say nothing of their infamously lackadaisical ingame moderation, directly enables stalking and harassment.

Also, forums are not the only channels to send your suggestions and feedback.

This is just another example of the era that we are living in. Companies would rather ban victims of this behaviour or ignore them then deal with the issue at hand because they know people have no quality standards anymore and will keep paying or just ignore the issue until it happens to them.

Corporations are allowed to get away with too much in this era, we are at real risk of the "System Shock" portrayal of the future or even "Shinra Electric Power Company" as seen in Final Fantasy 7 where corporations own everything and act as defacto governments. They are allowed to give you so much less now for even more inflated prices and they know they can get away with it. This isn't just a gaming industry problem but a problem of globalisation as a whole.

I was actually thinking about this the other day, I didn't realise how much I've been conditioned by gaming to distrust big corporations. Umbrella, Trioptimum and Shinra pretty much convinced me that corporations are inherently evil and can never be trusted to behave responsibly or treat their customers with respect or care. But based on the way Blizzard, Riot and a few others have behaved, it seems I was right to not trust them.

It would also do literally nothing against the stalker tool because all that needs is just like 3 dudes that do a bit of packet capture on a data center and the entire player ID database is up to date. They need to stop sharing account IDs with clients. Anti cheat, if they even got it to work at all, does not help you in any way in this case.
