Lack of Cross-DC PF is getting me burnt out on XIV, and it's such an unforced error

I love raiding.
I love chatting with my FC mates.
I love crafting, and selling that stuff on the MB.
I love taking care of my estate's garden, and my FC's submarines.

I hate that while I do the first, I can't do any of the latter, because Aether isn't my home. Unfortunately for me, there just isn't sustainable content to run right aside from Savage, and the only way to enjoy Savage is to be away from home. It was the same with FRU for months, I basically haven't spent more than 5% of my time in game on my home DC. I can't chat with my friends, reset retainers, list my crafted items for sale, DO ANYTHING but raid right now.

In order for me to spend more time with the friends I made in this game, I have to close this game and stop playing, and open another game so that I can interact with them in a meaningful way.

If we had cross DC PF, I could be chatting, hanging out in the FC yard, doing retainer, trading, venue-hopping, just generally being around to be present with my friends while I wait for a party. And these days, even with Aether as full as it is, I spend more time in PF waiting for a party than I do raiding the game.

The worst part is that I actually don't mind waiting more than half of my time in game just to play content, as long as I can just wait while I'm hanging out with friends. At this point, I spend my days waiting for PF to fill, as I am right now, and I'm thinking about just pausing Savage raiding because of this friction. But then if I stop, then there's no reason to log in anymore at all, there's no content to wait for.

At least in 7.0's tier because it was so easy and the playerbase was so full, I could just chill on Primal the whole time and raid happily without having to leave to Aether.

They've said other things would be challenging, such as DC travel itself, and I know as a technical person myself that world visit was complicated to implement and required navigating a lot of potential issues with code that was not designed for visitors. Yet, they did both these things eventually.

My guess is they'll aim for 7.57 or 7.58 because they usually test these things in the lull before expansion release.

Yeah not having cross DC PF is annoying, my main is on primal, which if I'm lucky has 10 pfs up full of prog liars. I just gave up raiding without my static because I can't get onto aether. At least on aether there's 30+ PFs full of prog liars.

I can't even Prog FRU because Aether's clogged up. It's annoying and you'd have to get on the dead hours of the night to even get in there.

They've had this 'catastrophic' problem since 6.x . 7.5x is just not good enough.
I suspect that instead the lesson they have learned is that they just shouldn't do stuff like travel in the future. Keep things the same for 12 years of 6 expansions. Except jobs. Re-do those completely every 4 years, so that you never really become expert.
I still haven't unlocked viper. What's the point when I've got to suffer dumbed down keeper of the lake, pointless unsynced Chloe's Xtremes and I'm still trying to get decent at Monk again, while constantly 'taking a break' 1 out of every 2 sub months.

To add insult to injury they force merged ranked pvp into single Datacenters, which, at least for me, has the reverse effect of making me participate LESS, not more, when it's hosted on the other datacenter.

Cross-DC PF is definitely needed, and I hope the fact that they think it would be difficult to implement doesn’t mean they just won’t try.

But in the meantime, maybe some kind of rotating DC bonus system like they did for Chaotic would help? They could even stagger it across current content to help with congestion, so one DC has the bonus on Ex4, while another has it on M6S, etc. Still requires traveling, but at least everyone isn’t going to the same place and locking out the DC.

Still hate the idea that certain DCs have become default for certain content, and still think that’s largely a community created problem… how many people saying their DCs PF is dead are creating their own PFs? But at this point, it’s become so entrenched that we need a Cross-DC PF.

They could try either not letting you make a PF if you aren't from the given DC or try not letting you join a PF at all if you aren't from that DC. See if that makes people stay on their own DCs or not. Would still allow friends to invite freely and people could visit their friends on Aether. Because it is an entirely community-created problem. The community has decided to congregate on specific DCs. So there are a couple things they could try while they're working on cross DC PF. I'd want them to be really careful with that and test it properly, since we're already seeing people who get stuck trying to cross now. I believe we get copied to another DC as it currently is, so I'd want all the bugs worked out there. And that's going to take time around things they already are doing like the graphics upgrade and expansion work.

It really is. I'm kind of sick of seeing Dynamis or other players going "uuuu my DC is so dead so I have to go to Aether/Primal/Crystal to do anything" like... your DC is only dead because you and everyone else are leaving to other DCs to do content!! I brought it up before and I'll continue to bring it up again - that first month of DT launch, where DC travel was locked down except for letting everyone visit Dynamis I remember seeing a lot of Dynamis players talking about how for once their PF was active, and queues for content across the whole span of levels were actually popping and within reasonable times to boot.
And then they removed the restrictions, and everyone immediately forgot hey, my DC is active if people actually stay on it and went right back to causing the exact problem they can't stop complaining about. I have absolutely zero sympathy for people who whine about it at this point when they continue to travel off-DC to do their dailies, especially when it's people who only moved DCs to get a house.
