Meaning, two different Dancers using Closed Position on the same target grants the same buff, meaning they do not stack.

When you use Closed Position on a target, it grants the buff Closed Position to yourself, which is a completely different buff. It's because of this that two Dancers can used Closed Position on each other, because they both end up with 1 instance of Closed Position buff and 1 instance of Dance Partner buff. They're different buffs. That's why they stack.

And since Dancer's release, people have been absolutely terrible at understanding this despite the job quest straight up telling you exactly this.

EDIT: To remain on topic with the thread, I generally give Dance Partner to whoever's doing the most damage or whoever I can trust won't get themselves killed and waste my buff. Though, absolutely, if someone demands it, or is rude, they just don't get it. Doesn't matter if the content is casual or not.

More often than not, though, I have to remind other Dancers to use the Closed Position ability at all. I don't care what the content itself is, or how hard or easy someone thinks it is, I'd appreciate people at least playing the job they selected at least somewhat properly.
honestly I don't know I have dancer 100 but never got into a dungeon with a other dancer and never I have seen that in dungeon in trial sure I have never saw then and never was a fan of the rng with dancer. but to be fair my RNG luck was always crap so I barely proc anything xx)

My dance partner selection in casual 8 man content:
    - Pre-fight- take a while guess based on gear level/HP, job, etc.
    - During fight: Actively monitor who is hanging out at #2 on the threat list, or whether my chosen partner dies all the time or is lagging horribly.
-After fight: Swap to whoever had the highest uptime and highest ranking on the threat list, regardless of job or class.

But yeah, if someone starts demanding dance partner, I am less inclined to give it to them. If they ask nicely? I might consider it. (The two word phrase "dance partner" is generally someone reminding me that I forgot it entirely, though....)

Honestly I don't think I've ever actually witness someone throwing a tantrum to get partnered in pve.
In pvp though? That's a whole different story. I've been literally harassed over it.

You can turn it off and target someone else mid-combat, potentially if they die or disconnect, but it's clunky. Not like Kardia which has a shorter cooldown and can instantly target someone else.

PvP is where chill goes to die. Best part is how often people will be complaining about how terrible our team is yet we end up winning.

I've honestly seen people more upset about *receiving* the dance partner buff.

Tanks personal damage is extremely close to DNC and BRD personal damage. If you aren't doing your rotation correctly and the tank *is* it's entirely possible they are under the better DP.

Right now it's 21,500 personal dps (tank) vs 23,500 dps (dancer) at the theoretical maximum. If a tank had 10% better uptime than the dancer or the dancer dies the tank handily pulls ahead.
