The fact that the majority of the modern XIV community is more interested into the fights than the jobs themselves (to a point) and that with SE's direction constantly pushing more and more into hardcore DDR making it a real pain to play jobs like old BLM for the average player? It makes sense to me. Doesn't mean I like it, especially for the BLM mains that los something, but it doesn't surprise me. The game has been changing, and the shift that it created within the community is slowly but surely pushing away the vets.
I actually enjoyed playing BLM back in HW, and the job was literally unable to move at all, but that was fine, because you didn't need to run all around all the time. Solving mechanics or going through the fight wasn't about this and I could focus on the job itself and the battle system. Since ShB and EW though? Even with the job having a colossal amount of mobility and uptime tools? Felt like pain to me, so I understand how the average players feels about it. The real problem is the shift in mentality and fight design, and SE mentioning it this patch is only confirming to me what I thought all along. You won't get a complex RPG job gameplay with the kind of action paced gameplay we've been getting for 5 years now, and it's doubling down on it in DT. There was a lot more BLMs in a time where BLM had no uptime tools, and that should tell us something.
I think SE's changes make sense, even though I hate it.
