well beast master main weapon in the older games are whips soooooMy prediction:
Playstyle: Like SMN. Generic AoEs and Generic ST depending on "summoned" beast.
Beast book: Gather beasts and add them to your book.
Weapon: Something that isn't a pokeball.
That's probably it. If it has literally any depth at all, such as teaching abilities, feeding them, letting them have children or using them as mounts, I'll be surprised, because depth isn't something SE usually bother with in FFXIV.
It's not appropriate for me to start a new thread about this as frankly I've left. Back, who knows 'if' now. But i just popped into the will be live letter stream (YouTube, don't do that twitch stuff. Really don't get it) and so far the chat is one dude flexing he's progging FT and the rest is Beastmaster.
I never did anything with Blue Mage. Didn't see the point.All the spell farming is done in OP unlimited instances. (You can imagine what someone who hates one hit farms, and unsynced Khloes thinks of that)
- There is no real 'multiplayer' 'content' for it.
I can't bare the over and over again blue mage moogle event meta speed farms.
So just like the new deep dungeon being added to the other deep dungeons I'm not interested in because casual static is an oxymoron.. This casual had no interest in upcoming beastmaster, because I'd been assuming it won't be any good for multiplayer.
Heck I never unlocked Viper because all I've got to do with it is stale rouls, and wanted to try high end for first time this expansion, so a new job would have been hopeless.
Square Enix, i hope you've got decent multiplayer content for beastmaster coming, that is both challenging, and can be queued casually without a PF.

Although it's very niche content only done by a small number of people, it does have multiplayer content:
- Blue Mage log - you just setup a PF saying you're completing a dungeon with all BLU and they'll join you. Can be chill and fun, and different.
- Blue Mage weeklies - these also include extreme trials as all BLU often done in PF. Can be fun too since, similar to Unreal, some of them aren't as hard as others, and BLU can cheese them to a certain extent.
- Morbol mount and achievements - usually ends up needing a static, and it is niche content, but the chances are that 7 other people in the world are looking to do this as well.
- Obviously ended up common to farm mogtomes for a while.
But it's not really done by a mainstream of players. Most likely it would benefit from a roulette for each of those activities. If that doesn't work, it's possible most players just aren't interested in it whatever they do, without it being level cap. The precedent could predict a similar thing happening to Beastmaster though.
But the problem you run into, is the reason all I did with OC is hit level 20 for the story and then leave never to returnAlthough it's very niche content only done by a small number of people, it does have multiplayer content:

I don't need the jobs (only apply to FT,)
I dint need the gear (only apply to FT)
Same for blue mage. I dint need the spells for anything except solo carnivale, so i don't need the spells. So PF spell collection doesnt apply.
And why do I want to use blue mage to complete instances I've already cleared, when blue mage now means i have to deal with doing nothing in a PF while it fills, and probably never see it fill.
I'm not convinced many people want to do all blue MINE extreme. In fact I don't. I've haven't done most of them normal MINE, I don't need to add blue to that.
And if blue ubiquitously makes them a cakewalk which i thought they did? Not interested.
Need actual, multiplayer *casual* (queue now) content. PF is out of the question.
Beatmaster just needs a 'multiplayer' carnivale that doesn't rely on PF.

Maybe they'll use one-hand axe + shield like the BSTs in Bozja? Or maybe a whip?
I do predict that the job's main feature will be twofold:
1) Customize your companion to be other creatures rather than just the Chocobo, and being able to queue with it on instanced content. You do this to capture additional companions.
2) A special battle system where you control just your companion in an arena setting, and differently from BLU where they face PVE enemies, this one is more focused on battling other player's companions.

Outside of their update patches is really hard to get a group going, I remembered last time I tried not too long ago it took me over one hour to get a party going for a dungeon, probably because it was a Log objective that didn't have any spells. Can't even imagine trying to set up when the objective is an Alliance Raid.
