The opinion on the Cruiserweight savage tier

Since forums usually filled only with negative opinions, gonna leave the positive one i had.

This tier has a potential to be the best tier in the entire game, honestly. I would love to see at least one fight where adds are as important as in m6s, in every tier from now.

The difficulty is great, it's not crazy easy, and it's not overly difficult. People struggle in m6s with adds because they're just not used to having to aoe in this setting, and they just waste stuff where they don't need to use it and then don't have anything when they do need it. My clear group (in PF!!) absolutely demolished adds by just hitting whatever we had to hit according to our individual priority lists in every single pull.

M5S was very very frustrating at first, but when it finally clicked, it's instantly became one of my favorite intro fights. The music is great, and the mechanics are engaging in the first half. The only criticism i might have for this fight is that after the 1st dance floor there's not much happening. It's basically becomes just "don't get damage down" fight after that point. Still very fun tho.

Didn't clear 7 and 8 yet, so my opinion for it comes from seeing others clear.

M7 for now is the weakest fight for me in this tier, yet it still looks very good. I like how we finally have melees disengage mindfully instead of just chilling in max melee for every mech. The weakest part about this fight is that there's not much new things different from normal. This is actually something i "predicted" since the normal version had so much mechs happening in it.

M8 is a great fight, but i would probably say it's too long for a savage. It's actualy approaching the length of old ultimates like UwU and UcoB. The p1 was great, fast mechs, a lot of stuff happening, you have to think about positioning, amazing phase.. Really glad they continue the trend with no door boss. P2...It's fine, the mechs are not absolutely braindead, i think it's a great phase. But please, for the love of God, can we get a p2 that's not a wall boss? (I liked the arena in this one but still).

Overall amazing tier, very fun and i hope they'll continue with this design and will build on top of it! Having a lot of fun with the raid content in this expansion (and off-topic : glad the main story got better in 7.2 too!!)

It is amazing. It's the people in PF who ruin it.

M5: completly fine, nothing unusual for the first boss.

M6: felt completly overtuned in dps checks on adds, couldn't clear with partyfinder for three weeks, over 200 attemps before i managed to get through adds, kep dieding to damage from adds as Tank over and over.

M7: Mechanic wise the easiest boss of the tier, very similar to normal mode, i think i wiped more to the lack of aoe mitigation than mechanic failures.

M8: This fight feels brutal, certainly much harder than M4, the small arena doesnt allow for any mistakes and positiong has to be very quick and precise. Phase two is much much easier than Phase 1 for sure.

M8S only cements my opinion that removing the checkpoint is a strictly negative change.

It is detrimental for practicing. You have to rerun and rerun and rerun and rerun and rerun and rerun and rerun and rerun and rerun phase 1 for each single attempt at phase 2, and while you're learning phase 2, you will (naturally) die there, a lot. And each time it takes at least 8+ minutes to get back to your practice point, more if the group overall is still new and will sometimes die in phase 1. As not everyone has no life outside of FFXIV, practice time is limited, so often over a whole evening a player might only get a handful (if that) chances to practice the actual mechanic they want to, before they have to log off again. Due to this bringing constant flux to parties, even pre-organized ones, this naturally makes practice tougher for everyone else, too.

However, and more problematic, it also has no upside:
    * There is still a cutscene, so for someone just doing reclears, the fight isn't shorter.
    * The fight still starts with a "fresh" phase 2, it also auto-pulls just as before.
    * Experienced groups will just kill, so whether phase 2 has a checkpoint or not is of no material value to them, they could not care any less.

It just hurts people still learning the fight, not those who already know it. For a game that always says it doesn't want people to give up their life for FFXIV, it's weird to make a change that explicitly and only increases the time-sink element of an existing mechanic at no upside. Utterly non-fitting design, hence I was sure after experimenting with it in M4S (at least there the "cutscene" was interactive!) they'd drop it again.

    The other fights:
    * M5S is nearly the best fight of them so far, only Honey B Lovely beats this!
    * M6S is awesome, really unique fight procession, quite difficult when learning it, varied combat styles and phases, tests ~all elements of ~all jobs, and a kickass soundtrack to boot. Lacks the raw drip of M5S or it'd beat that, too.
    * M7S ... exists. It's fine. Nice mechanics, kinda lame boss, stage and sound design. Still, is fine.
    * M8S even ignoring the above issue is just aggressively mediocre. The soundtrack is... okay? The boss design is... okay? (in phase 1, phase 2 just feels like leftover models clipping together, there's no rhyme, reason or sense) The abilities are kinda cool, but visually... okay? Such a weird fight as the capstone, especially after the amazing M4S.
