Yeah I really wish I felt like a actual "Paladin" more often with skills like cover and clemency being cool but too niche usually. My first run of M7N, as a WHM, I failed the petrification mechanic in the first phase. The PLD used back-to-back Covers to keep me alive through the proximity damage that followed because I was out of place, trying to get my bearings, etc. etc. I was like, "Yes, this is why Cover exists. A+ job."
What if i tell you that the 'core issue' is lack/bad communication instead of tanks being able to survive (many bosses can kill with just your 123 heal and some mits). Just talk to your party if you got issues with something (do that when you dont have issues as well).
If you do happen to meet a tank that tries to solo from waaay to high hp% of the boss, its pretty simple thing really. First say "Please dont solo this, we can do it again as party faster". If they dont listen again you can say "Holding party hostage is reportable behaviour, please stop it". If they dont listen, you are well justified to report, while less tank sustain would not make such tank reconsider.
Some people need a strong convincing in form of penalty to change their ways.
Could the game explain some of duty finder culture? Sure, but i dont think it would eradicate the issue either (Skippers gona skip)
Tanks should not be able to be a one man army. There is a point in the current design where the tank role has been sucking the air of every other role (healer especially), and asking to keep that state of things is not only selfish, but misguided. If the answer is "just increase storymode damage", then I am sorry to say but this ain't happening any time soon, although I do agree that unfortunately in storymode the only threat to tanks isn"t even busters that barely tickle, but party stacks and room wides, which they can unfortunately heal through most of the time.
The more rational take would rather be to keep what's interesting on the defensive kits of tanks while weeding out all the parasitic bloat. Focus tanks a lot more on covering allies, giving some occasional potent heals or saves here and there, but don't let them one man army encounters else it's literally the trinity you're destroying, and the game is still built around it at the core, no matter how much the devs have tried to brutalize it.
it is actually not because remember you did accept to play a online game with other player you can only ask the person to.wope if they refuse they nothing else can be doneIs it not reportable? Pretty sure it is if u say it in chat that you dont want them to waste your time and they dont listen.
Maybe word your reports better?
While i havent been subject to this in a dungeon, i have personally seen someone get removed from alliance raid for trying to solo last boss from like 7% (tank would take like 30 minutes for it lmao)
I'd like to suggest making the enrages a mechanic alwaysTanks having strong healing is already seen as controversial but when it's abused to solo normal mode trials for 30 minutes without your parties consent it makes people ask the devs to remove that part of the job that us courteous tank players find fun for HELPING people. we are being punished by your selfishness and ego tripping. If the devs actually read the healer and tank posts negatively talking about our sustain then we are all royally fugded thanks to you varmints!
I propose forced enrage after maybe 5 minutes or less have passed since all resser's died.
If not then make this behavior be punishable with temporary suspension.
My worst suggestion would be to just give tanks a res but....... man the healers are already salty enough with how much their responisibilities have been encroached on. shadowbringers healers can no longer have fun dps rotations, endwalker healers no longer have to heal most tanks in normal content, dawntrail tanks are even harder to kill in normal content and shadow wall, abyssal drain and living dead make dark knight actually good at sustaining it self.
If you want to make tanks thick healers then give us a res and give healers their dps back
otherwise let them play the game and do their job xD
I don't like that you can fight a boss for 20+ minutes and get a kill because the healers spam res the people that refuse to learn the fight
They should be punished for dying and doing 0 damage because of it imo, at least in normal raids and trials
Nothing crazy, just like a hard 15m timer or something so you can't have a hilariously bad run go to victory
