Meanwhile in FFXI, made with a PS2 devkit for an engine that's over 20 years old...

FFXIV 1.0 CS : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAifwGuWAro
The full moCap for CS was one of the reason for 1.0 faill.... because it took them too much time to do it and cost them an arm....Thus making downtime between update patch enormous and with little content to boot because of thoses CS.
What you are posting, Gacha Game CS, are just a tottally wrong exemple.
It's like comparing an MMo extension with a "classic" game add-on.

- FF14 1.0 was in an overall poor state. From outdated concept to bad game design and horrible gate keeping. That compete with world of warcraft, mostly any mmo in this time failed! And FF14 1.0 was not a good one! To blame that on the cut scene time, come on that is cheap!
- Also look at FF16, lets say they build that game in 6 years. We have about 22 hours of cut scenes. We could say that was about 18 minutes of cut scene per month. So 73 minutes of that quality of cut scenes would be on the same level per patch! Did we get that? Also for the same price as FF16. 60$ of subscription.
- Also i know what i am talking about! Motion capturing today with all the new technology is faster as do a animation by hand. The only reason why in ff14 is faster, because they of the lack of quality! Even an AI can produce better cut scenes now!
- Also what is the problem with compare the production quality of a modern mmo with an modern mmo? Take wuthering waves or genshin impact, that are solo/coop mmos! There is no difference, they all tells a story, with dungeons, with bosses, with over world, the only eception is, that they have no raids! And in this example raids do not matter, because it is only the production quality of cut scenes. The animation developers never works in raid design anyway!
- Also wuthering waves has a patch cycle of 2 months! Not 4. But they have 3-5 times more people and that is the reason why SE is so cheap! They do not invest, they can take the money went to everywhere on the world and build up a studio who exclusively produce the cut scenes. But they do not want it! They want to be as cheap as possible.
And if anyone comes again with the "its a gatcha game" example. listen to me: "You look down on a genre that you think is a cheap shot again you loved mmo from square enix. But they have better cut scenes! That should you be ashamed of you beloved game!"

Oh, and i didn't read the rest of you post after this sentence.... it was pointless since you used bad faith from the start.
Oh, and i still have my FFXIV 1.0 DvD Box ^^
What is an MMO. By definition a game, where many players play the game on the same server! Is that not valid for these games? No?! They are solo mmos, because there main gameplay is solo! You can invite others from a server list to your game and play on the same map. But the main deal is solo, like in final, where you can play the whole game solo until you reach lev 100. The fact that people can use the same zones as you make it not an mmo, only that you play on the same servers. Hope next time you get your definition before you claim others as false.
Fine, have a nice day. But please, when you exit a discussion, please stay outside it and go away when people want to discuss.
