My sister has epilepsy and essentially has had to quit playing FFXIV because the accessibility options seem to have just been forgotten entirely
I'm mildly RG colorblind and it only rarely affects me. Recollection EX surprised me with how poorly I could make out the floor patterns during Rosebloom. This is the first time I've actually tried to use the accessibility features. If even I'm having trouble now, I can't imagine how bad it is for more severely affected players.
Something's gotta give.
Completely agree. Would love to see some more consideration for visual clarity and settings that would allow everyone to be able to engage with what they want.
the visual vomit is probably part of that "improved encounter design" unironically
The visuals are too much sometimes even without any visual problems, so I can't imagine how bad it is for people with them. Ex 4 in particular is pretty bad. Other MMOs have a way to change AoE colours, and other accessibility options (like addons being legal *cough cough*). FFXIV needs to catch up.
About time the community pay somebody to stream and get banned so they'll add those accessibility options, perhaps. :PThe visuals are too much sometimes even without any visual problems, so I can't imagine how bad it is for people with them. Seconding, I actually have really good color perception. I cannot see what's going on in Zelenia, or at least I can't do it at any speed. it's just a bad color combo if readability is anywhere on your priority list. Also it might just be because I'm new to savage but I feel visually overwhelmed by M5S (don't ask me about anything else, not there yet). I have issues with sensory overload and I feel like I'm partially shutting down by the 45 minute mark even when I'm acquainted with mechanics.
Seconding this as well. I was thinking of this in the dragon boss in Jeuno, I can't see anything past hit ginormous body/hitbox. I was practically begging for everything to become smaller even though that would make uptime harder because I wanted to see what was going on. I play with my camera fully zoomed out at all times.
Adding my voice to this thread. Visual clutter is not the way to make a fight "harder". Please take the feedback given upthread into consideration and keep this game enjoyable for everyone!
Some degree of colorblindness exists in a significant portion of their target demographic (some 1 in 12 men) so I agree - no idea why this doesn't get priority status come dev time. The visual noise in every aspect of this game is quite stunning. I wish we could turn it all off.I want to add my voice to this thread because I've played this game for a long, long time and this issue (genuinely) does not seem to be improving.
The native colorblind settings are just dogwater. They're just plain bad. It's pretty insane that some folks have to go look for third party programs to assist them to see the game to a reasonable degree.
Why Square Enix doesn't test their content with players who have these kind of disabilities is beyond me -- it's clearly not something that's particularly rare.
