Recollection EX Eye Strain

Hello guys!

I love the new EX-Trial but everything in there is so bright that it causes eye-strain for me. I also noticed that when the boss casts shock, that the screen goes white for like 1 second, maybe even less.

After 30 minutes my eyes already start to hurt, I dont have this Problem with Ex1, Ex2 and Ex3.

Are there some of you who experience the same, or do you have any advice for me?

Yes I have a problem with "Shock" specifically as well, though I can feel it aggravating my neurological disorder and making me feel nauseated rather than it causing eye strain. The second time that particular animation shows up doesn't bother me as much, probably because it doesn't take up *the entire screen* with bright pulsating light.

This is how I handle it--I either squint, look away from the screen, or close my eyes and listen for the sound of the attack to end. It lasts roughly six seconds.

Beyond that, not sure what can mitigate the rest of it--it's kind of bright but it seems to me it's more just difficult to read with the rose pattern being so similar to the floor. I don't have any advice for that part.

I don't experience it. Do you have an eye condition that causes this?

There's a general eye-strain thread that's been around since the DT update, lots of folks have been having issues with this since the graphics were changed so you're far from alone.

A silly suggestion but a friend of mine did find it helped with some fights... try sunglasses? It'd be great if the game would be fixed, especially since it's literally the only thing causing a lot of us issues, but sunglasses might help a little as a temporary quick-fix. Way easier to pop them on for a bright fight than it is to fiddle with your screen settings for just one game, especially since darkening stuff makes other things in FFXIV impossible to see on the other end of the spectrum.

I had trouble with the Innocence fight way back in ShB. The bright white flooring made it hard to see the AoE markers for me. Someone told me to try one of the color blind modes, and it helped. I know this is not the exact same as you two are dealing with, but it might be something to try as a temporary fix for now.

The deuteronopia setting might actually help for me. It does a decent job of desaturating the blues, which while it won't fix the strobing, it might help with the brightness. I'll try that, thanks for the tip.

I had an issue with Il Mheg when ShadowBringers first came out.

I just turned down my monitor brightness. Fixed.

Might be the circles and the phase change. I noticed that and i dont suffer eye strain

The deuteronopia colorblind setting helped me A LOT with this EX. Since it was almost entirely the pulsing bright blue from Shock and Alexandrian Thunder II that was causing me issues, the color filter managed to desaturate that enough so it's gone from nauseating twitching to quite tolerable. I'll have to remember this next time I come up on something that causes me similar issues.
