The easiest way to preserve difficulty would be to have players get their full kits by level 50 so all the content beyond that can be balanced around the same skills and adjusted if needed.

They'll have to do something akin to this at some point soon anyways. I'm highly doubtful they'll manage to keep adding gimmicks or new abilities expansion after expansion until the game dies out. The job roster keeps growing, and so does the associated work with adding new things that amount to very little (like Summoner in DT) or temp break job flow (Monk and BLM with DT). Seems far more sensible to get the jobs into healthy places, then focus on new jobs (only doubling back to fix bugs or make slight adjustments).
