    Preserving Raids.

What if we kept the old action skills locked to each previous raid so the new players could see what it was like to manage tp in the coils. So that people could still remember the comparable differences to older content. Or possibly a check box option to do the fight on 'legacy mode'. Is this too much? Would ilvl ruin the mechanics of nostalgia?

I think step one to preserving raids is the ilvl and making it cap closer to the entry amount. There's a lot of raid fights I never got to experience, and these days they're utterly blown through due to ilvl caps. Hell, even with the raids I did get to experience closer to release... I kind of just feel empty inside since we trounce on them so quickly now. Melting bosses before they get to play the game just isn't fun, it's just a chore.

They probably have all older skills in an archive... Or at least I would imagine so, but who knows with SE...

Item Level would only be part of the problem, really, as you would still have stat reworks that happened with Stormblood which is definitely a compounding issue (e.g., Accuracy -> Direct Hit).

They would honestly be better just reworking all the older raids to bring them up to more modern design, rather than trying to decouple it from modern design so people could feel what it was like way back in the day, when we had things like cross class abilities and TP.

they would need to create a mode with the original skill set and with fixed stats for it to stay the same on the long term. with the only variable being the chosen jobs

the thing is old fight ilvl would make it easier with all the old skills and everything but still challenging now due to how simple it is the ilvl is the same yet the damage output is infinitely simple and only doing that making all older fight easier

I think having a different set of actions for each raid series as the default would be too confusing for the average player, but "legacy mode" would be a fun way of preserving the game's history. I'd welcome the chance to try out older versions of certain jobs. Though, I'd be shocked if we actually got anything like this.

Sounds like a great idea, I'd love to be able to play Dragoon again.

The easiest way to preserve difficulty would be to have players get their full kits by level 50 so all the content beyond that can be balanced around the same skills and adjusted if needed.
