For years and years I always switch to a Peloton class whenever I'm in a no-riding area, so I can move as fast as possible. Old habits die slow, so I'm still doing this, and will probably continue - which means I don't care about Jog at all (or even notice it).
And doesn't it fall off anyway as soon as you get aggro? Which means that it's also pointless in dungeons.
Of all the things we got this patch I did not expect anyone actually complaining about "jog". People have been complaining about a lack of speed in the city since what feels like the beginning of time and now we get a fix that works for everyone, it is considered The Worst Of The Worst...?
Yes, you could switch to Peloton, but guess what: Not everyone likes to play a phys ranged job. Not everyone has a phys ranged job. There are actually many people who prefer other jobs, naturally, because there are a lot of jobs and different people like different things. Assuming "just do the stuff people with all jobs on max level do, random sprout" is such an odd take. You also don't always have Peloton in duties because of this, because not every Duty Finder group ever comes with a phys ranged job.
I am glad we have an option to get faster through cities. If the talking animation is clunky: Let's talk about the animation. Peloton being kind of obsolete: Yeah, I get that, it should get a rework because of this (that's why I support the other thread where this exact issue is being debated). But these are minor tweeks to an otherwise great feature, not a way to doom this whole feature solving a problem a lot of people had for ages. (And I'm saying this as a person who has all phys ranged jobs, I don't want to need to switch to one of these jobs every single time I like to get from A to B a little bit faster, and then keep pressing the button repeatedly because it's not permanent.)

*snips the rest because char limit*
There's several animations for running that I don't care for in this game:
Midlander female run swinging arms from the elbows reads "girly run" to me: the kind that's inefficient and what girls often did because it was "expected" of them.
Elezen female run involves bellydancer-level swinging of the hips: as in, all I can think is "Oh hell her lower back and hips are gonna hurt SO much from that after a while."
Male Au Ra have an extremely "hulking" hunched-over run (that's very menacing to me). So do male Hrothgars, but at least with the Hroths their standing body-type is also hunched a bit, so it makes a little more sense with them; male Au Ra stand very straight. Male Miqos also do a bit of a hunch when running, but not as much. They also stand with their hands doing a strange "sort of clawing" look like there's a neurological issue going on with them.
Know what? I just figure "Well they're trying to make the races/genders look more different from each other," and I let it go. If I genuinely can't stand to watch that type of character running, I pick a different character to play. *shrug* Fantasia is a thing.
But as said above, the big *gain* with jog is that it's faster than our regular movement through a city, and honestly I just want to GET TO THE PLACE. Usually as fast as I can. Because I'm doing things, and don't care to slowly "fast-walk" through places I've seen a bajillion times now. If "sprint" was continual I'd be even happier, but getting sprint and then jog is still better than our former "fast walk," IMO.
Which is also why they gave us a MUCH faster sprint for CE: the area on the moon is HUGE, and it would take FOREVER to get places even with the old sprint, so they made sprint there even faster. (Which makes the new sprint in cities and job feel really slow, once you've been on the moon for a while, lol.)
Anywho, people can get upset over anything and that's fine, but to me this is a really *weird* thing to get THIS upset over. *shrug* Ah well.
"For the world is hollow, and I have touched the sky."
you all know it's the ninja movement speed perma bonus but made into a skill xx)
I rarely come here but had to say something, because it is pretty ridiculous now. Is the state of this community really this bad now to offer up low grade complaints? become the troll Olympics? are you all really that bored? With all the things going on with this game and issues we SHOULD focus on... wanna complain about jogging? Gotta be kidding me, I think Saturday Night Live people need come to these forums for material i swear. Seriously if you gonna quit just quit.. you will do the rest of us a favor but make sure you mean it when you say it and don't come back. Go kick rocks lmao.
No wonder why game going down the crapper because posts like this pull the game different directions and wonder why SE stopped listening after a while.
So the game goes down the drain because of posts like this which SE does not listen to? Very coherent thinking here.
I like it because of the size of some cities, I don't just want to teleport, I want to walk around the city.
Well, it's true that it's fast, but I've seen people IRL run so fast, it takes a while to overtake them on a bike. Some cardio my avatar :P And as I said above, if you don't like it, just right-click and it's done. Maybe there's even a macro to disable it via shortcut, I haven't looked.

Still Useless... To have so many Commendations in 2024
Did your gym class teacher make you run a bunch of extra laps or something?Jog genuinely makes me want to stop playing. I know very well that that sounds strange and stupid, fully aware, but i just HATE the sped up running-animation, and to have that "forced" upon me actively makes the game worse. When playing a physical ranged damage dealer I already hated having to press Peloton after every pack in a dungeon, and now having to to that on every single job in the game..? No thanks.
I won't lie - this ranks right up there when someone made a post about their sexually being attacked because boy bunnies weren't a thing that existed in the game at the time. No Q-Tip long enough would allow me to tap the part of my brain to reset the memory center of my reading that post. This post isn't Q-Tip worthy.Again, I know it's a stupid thing to be mad about, but I genuinely feel like it makes my gameplay experience worse, as weird as that may sound.
