Black mage changes are probably my breaking point with this game

The point is you lost empathy by mentioning you didn't use Sharpcast and thinking that was fine. The job was fun to a lot of the folks posting against the changes in here because of the sheer amount of optimizations the job had, and Sharpcast was one of the many that was lost to Dawntrail.

I'm far from knowledgeable compared to the diehard BLM mains in here and even I saw the value of it and used it all the time.

Your posts have devolved to such a level of intellectual dishonesty that you're now building a strawman around what I said happened in the past to the point that you have now developed this false equivalency of your hakaze quote. It simply meant I did incorporate it into everything else I did. I managed my AF and UC phases as one does. I played around my Leylines. I simply did not use Sharpcast. Was it not as optimal? Probably. Did it have an effect on me being able to play my job? No, not at all.

This mini-arc of me not using Sharpcast has gone on long enough and has done absolutely nothing to talk about Black Mage and its changes as a whole. Whether future readers wish to gauge my ability as a casual Black Mage in the past as poor or not is of no consequence to me or my character. I know I played well in my sphere of the game and that's that on that.

I mean, refusing to engage with one important feature of a job DOES have an effect on you being able to play said job. Well, at least being able to play it well.

I mean, you can give your opinion on the changes just like everyone. But if you use your experience of having played the job for a long time and "played it well" to give more credit to your opinion while also saying that you refused to use an important feature of the job for whatever reason, it just sounds kinda contradictory. Just imagine if it wasn't you. Like, you read stuff on these forums and you come across a post saying "Yeah I played SAM pretty well and knew my kit in depth. Tho I never bothered to use those silly sticker-things", I'm pretty sure that you would find it kinda... funny.

Ah yes, sharpcast. One of the worst, most vestigial things of BLM, that still was vitally important to press that button at least once every 30s on average. I can actually understand someone not wanting to use it, but I have to really question how anyone is able to do most of the casts without the guaranteed firestarter/thundercloud. EW was brutal on casters due to movement requirements and those procs were very, very important to the classes mobility.

Good riddance, but I do have to quirk a brow about not using it all the same. It reminds me of the time someone told me they didn't use fire 4 in heavensward because they 'couldn't fit it on their bars.'

I feel a need to make a complaint here 'cause I might have to quit the game if job design continues going this direction.
Old Black Mage had everything I wanted from the job. Long casts, limited space to weave OGCD to play around, timer that I can play around differently of different spell speeds. All of this was taken from me
I got back into the game and my main job has been ruined so mich that I am just not having fun playing it. I had same reaction with Kaiten, but this one is even worse and idk what to play now since all the jobs I enjoy had been changed into dirrection that makes them worse for me.
If fight are going to be far more movement heavy I would rather have to spam Umbral Soul then play the job in its current state.
I really needed to get this out of my system. Hope my voice will be heard
