Imagine being a multi-million dollar company that has failed for years to defend itself against little kids with bot networks. Where do our subscription fees go? What are you doing with the unearned money from shop purchases? Are you picking your noses with it?

How is it possible that such a large company can’t get anything done? You can’t upgrade your systems because you outsourced everything beforehand, shut down the small firms, and now have no clue how to operate your own systems. You fail to implement the latest technology, like DLSS, and let script kiddies run circles around you with DDoS attacks.

And don’t even get me started on the friend list and block list… How dumb can you be, SE?

Shop money goes into the game allegedly, what that means is up in the air though. Sub money primarily goes into SE itself so they can make slop like Forspoken. That and falling for whatever dumb western grift we're on in any given year. Still sore about them selling off their western IPs for crypto garbage.

A reminder that a Direct Denial of Service attack has nothing to do with the server infrastructure at a data center. It is an attack that occurs on the ISP that services the data center. There is nothing Square Enix can do about it besides complain to NTT, or find a new ISP that will service their data center, or move data centers again. And even if they do any of those latter three things, the DDoS will simply move to the new ISP.

This actually might be a place where AI could intelligently block data packets at the node level if the IP address sending the data doesn't reply back with a token from one of the endpoint hosts that pay for those ISPs, but I'm sure people smarter than I am have already thought of something like that and it didn't work. I know that's sort of how Cloudflare works.
