    I honestly think all of you are over reacting. Once again, it's a 1% DPS loss to play standard pictomancer over min-max optimal picto right now.

    If suddenly, the job is no longer enjoyable for you because of such an insignificant DPS variance, then I question whether you actually liked the job to begin with or simply played it due to its pre-nerf strengths.

    Genuinely, stop being so parse brained and just play the damn job as you like it. Oh, painting a creature motif with no Mog/Madeen attached to it at the end of a fight is a DPS loss? Still fun to me.

    Ironically odd-minute hammers still have a function in Magenta skips if you wanted to optimise, so the narrative they're completely useless is incorrect.

    This is a case where people who like optimizing now have to do so in a much less fun way since picto’s core spell loop is just spamming 123 on a single button.

    You can have fun with a class and have fun optimizing but now those 2 things have diverged from each other and now in order to have a more fun optimization experience, you have to endure a less fun rotation of casting 1-2-3 ad nauseam

    I mean the fact that the intended rotation no longer uses one of our buttons is an issue. The unique job feature is the slow paint casts for big hits. We now have 1 paint that we use regularly with the other one once every 2 minutes. I get what you’re saying, but if the nerf intentionally changed our intended rotation, they’re honestly already gutting the job in the expansion it was released.

    Yeah it’s not so much that you using standard is going to make the fight enrage it’s just bad to know you are basically intentionally losing damage to play the job the way it’s intended to be played even if it’s a small loss

    Non standard BLM used to the design of the job in interesting ways to encourage higher damage and fitting to the encounter better. In this instance you get more damage for basically not engaging with your kit as even the maths around hammer to skip magenta is dubious, especially when you can magenta skip with no hammer

    People complain about devs taking away non-standard blm, then the same people go on to complain about non-standard pct being meta.

    Because non standard BLM actually involves engaging with the jobs unique mechanics to make it fit with the encounter as needed. “Non standard PCT” involves basically ignoring your kit to spam magical missile filler

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    Non standard BLM rewarded complexity with higher damage. Non standard PCT arguably awards less complexity with more damage

    That’s something you prefer as in your opinion simplicity is good, in my opinion it’s bad because if you play with more moving parts you should be awarded with higher damage

    To be honest, I would prefer it if they made it so you had to play PCT as designed, just like I celebrate them having us made to play BLM as designed.
