    Balance team should learn how to nerf jobs better

    Yes, this is another complaint post about the new changes coming out in 7.2

    Seriously, I want them to nerf more jobs. In PvE that is.
    Square Enix is forgetting that this is a PvE game and their approach to job balancing. It seems whoever is working on job balance was given the advice to "buff others instead of nerfing one" and just run with it.

    I understand that approach to balancing feels better, because no one wants to see their favorite job get nerfed, it feels bad.

    However, this is a PvE game, by buffing every jobs, you are making your game easier. Did you guys not see what happened to Endwalker's battle content? Do you want another snooze fest whenever people queue into Alliance raids?

    We are already easily skipping through mechanics. With how the game is designed, the really cool and complex mechanics always show up towards the end of a fight, because you have to introduce people to the simplified version of it at the beginning first. With how strong people's DPS are, they unfortunately often get skipped because bosses are dying before we get to see those. Endwalker alliance raid, for example, is now so boring because you hardly see anything fun with the bosses before they are killed. Hell, the last boss of Aglaia, you guys crafted a whole fancy cutscene with a really fun mechanic, and I hardly ever get to see them now!

    I was holding high hopes for Dawntrail battle contents because how fun they have been. I do not want to see another expansion where all the bosses are as impactful as a trash mob. Please stop babying us.

    It really starting to feel like whoever is balancing the jobs is not playing the game at all with how out-of-touch the changes seem. Do better Square Enix.

    This isn’t job potencies that need nerfing, it’s gear ilvl bloat. They hide it behind ilvl but you are (from a gear perspective) basically doing the EW alliance raids in level 100 gear when synced at 90

    The one job that was legit helping people skip mechanics was PCT in FRU and it HAS been nerfed in 7.2

    It is potencies that needs to be nerfed.
    When doing old content even gear scaling can't save you.

    When you see things like the 100 death UCoB run, ilvl is the same as it was during stormblood initial release, but 7 years of only buffing leads us there.

    Thankfully when reworking the old ARR content they had to retune it, because there were multiple cases where a boss did not do a SINGLE mechanic before dying.

    That’s the thing ilvl is functionally not the same in UCOB because of the changes to the way gear works since SB. It’s hard to compare with pre ShB content because of the changes to ability to meld mainstat, food and potions, accuracy, agro control and 10,000 other things

    For post ShB it’s primarily ilvl bloat because the game doesn’t sync properly

    There are outliers where potency is the problem (PCT in dungeons between 50 and 70 is hilariously overpowered on potency alone) but OP’s given examples of EW alliance raids is ilvl bloat, not potency creep

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    For Alliance raids indeed, since there is no scaling there for some reason.
