Couldnt they have just solved that with cast timers?Hammer not being part of the (optimal) burst anymore is quite a bummer in terms of class design for me because I really liked this fantasy of prepping everything and then letting it all loose during the burst. And purely wrt its animations hammer in particular is just so satisfying and fun to use. Removing an action that requires the prepping (and subjectively is one of the most fun skills) from the burst to replace it with much blander standard casting feels meh...
So in that sense I really wished they would have kept the core mechanic alone.
I always wonder why they can't make motif painting require a target while in battle (unless transition phases don't count as "being in battle"?)? Shouldn't that do away with the unfair advantage it has over other casters while keeping the class fantasy intact?
(Outside of battles you should still be able to free-cast it for open-world QoL and for prepping between trash pulls in dungeons).
Or would this result in the opposite problem, that painting only in battle is such a DPS loss in ultimates that it would "ruin" the DPS profile?
