Is the bar really that low now or was this patch actually kinda good? I still have bruises from when they threw Koana's development under the bus last patch, but I guess the payoff was getting to stick to one location for a change.

I like the new-old-Sphene. The "classic" FF princesses have all historically been pretty awesome, so actually giving us one after the fakeout of 7.0 is better late than never, I guess. Endless Sphene was a good standalone villain, but got undermined by Simulant Sphene showing up one patch later. I kinda wish the current writing team had the confidence to bring the real one in earlier. As an apology, I want to be able to wear her shoes.

Calyx is interesting, but should have been introduced last patch at the latest. I get the feeling both he and real!Sphene were delayed on account of needing new models. He's definitely got some kind of ties to either the Ascians or some yet-unrevealed rogue splinter faction of the Milalla, though we don't have enough info yet to figure out what kind of larger endgame his current plan will work into.

I don't entirely like the way that real!Sphene keeps looking at the crown, though. Getting strong Yotsuyu vibes. I think it would be really, really bad if she put it on, and that that's probably what's going to happen.

I'm glad we got clarification that Brute Bomber is specifically playing the heel, as it was the one sticking point for me in the last tier. Much less thrilled that the revelation came at the cost of his life, but even as infrequent as "real" deaths are the bar is still low enough that I don't think it was worst way he could have gone out. Other than that, this series is actually doing a great job of illustrating why this game does better when it keeps the body count low. We got to check in with everyone from last tier (and we're sure to see them again by the finale), and Honey B. Lovely is now cleared to show up pretty much anywhere fanservice is called for.

I like the overall Hajime no Ippo direction they're going in with fighters retiring from injuries to take care of the next generation, but I'm hoping the "cure" is something a little less miraculous than it sounds at the moment. Not that I want the people the story is making me care about to all die horribly, I just don't want the cure to be so easy that it trivializes the issue entirely.

I have very little else to say about this one except all the fights rocked. I am glad the art team has finally caught on that male Miqo'te can double as wolf boys in a pinch. Please please please release a model kit for Howling Blade. Please.

This one is a bit of a second coil throwback:
you need to get behind the flowers. At least you have to kill the adds this time instead of keeping them alive.

I'm not quite sure about that

As Blighted Bloom was a stop moving and not a look away or Line of sight. You also still had to kill the slugs unless you were doing the mega slug strat. Or are yout alking about the bees? As you still wanted to kill those unless you could power through them. Unlike Sohm Al's 1st boss. Where even on launch you could ignore them.

The new antagonist doesn't seem to be so bad, as in, looks like he may make for a good villain. BUT. I cannot get over how absolutely awful his character model looks. Like they pasted a 12 year old boy's head onto an adult body and then gave him a stock anime scientist outfit. Like they were trying to make a Genshin character in FFXIV. He just looks so awful. They really need to decide on an art direction and theme then just stick with it.

I should have clarified that I meant Melusine, actually. Back in the day, you had to petrify the cyclops and then get behind it. The implementation is closer to Rathalos, though.
I worked this out with my sister this morning when she was helping me clear, and it definitely works.

you didn't hear this from me but he actually does use a child model, so i'd say his face is pretty appropriate

Is this a good time to mention the Enigmatic Youth from FF11 Selh'teus?

That is a bit of the point with him though. He looks generic because he was a person who was suck in bed for his whole life due to his condition so he never got to live a life that allowed him to make himself look unique. As a result he was always sick and physically he never properly developed as a result of it.

From what we heard through the MSQ, we know that Living Memory is actually the 9th Reflection. Something is actually quite disturbing because I though that only Asciens were aware of the Reflection's existance, therefore, they must have some kind of link to them. Of course, the "Key" is able to connect two world, but Ascien weren't aware of that, otherwise the first arc with the Ascien would have been a lot different and the key in their possession since the start. Since only Emet-Selch has the ability to travel through Reflection, desperately trying to find a solution to unify the world and even causing calamity on his path. Emet Selch could have started all this, then the people of that world would have survived with only their city without him knowing what they managed to do thanks to the Lalafell of Aloalo and the Key that allow for dimensionnal travel arriving at that moment saving the day with their knowledge. So maybe thanks to that, many people become aware of the existance of Reflection and Primitive world and started to search for a solution to save their world.

On an other point now. In the first lvl 100 dungeon, we know that Sphene is supposed to die. So we have multiple possibility here. Either she was in fact severely injured, healed but kept in a coma state and the story we know is true, OR, the story didn't go that away at all and Sphene was never injured but instead "used" to make all this.

Also, considering that the "Fear of Death" is getting more and more on the front of the scene, I start to really think that we have to face Necrom at some point, which is an entity generated by the Fear of Death in FFIX. The goal of Calyx seems to go that way, by offering a limited amount of Black Regulator, he probably want them to feel that fear even more. We know that fear can cause horrible thing if the Dynamis is fucked up like how Meteion created the Apocalypse, and I think that Calyx maybe trying to create that for some reason, maybe to summon Necrom that way, something like a Super Apocalypse entity able to influence the Flow of Death. Calyx seems to search something about "Evolution of Mankind" and Necrom could be the answer to that. By generating the Fear of Death to a certain extent, Necrom can be summon and Calyx maybe trying to take control of him to fulfill his goal.

    Raid tier :

I don't know exactly where all of this is going. We manage to vanquish Brute Bomber a second time and conquer the Cruiserweight category. The owner seems to be a complete mad man and I expect him to betray what he said about giving up the souls and the medecine for the disease. He has no reason to not give the medecine to the fighters, or maybe he has some utility for this disease that allow him to do something with it ? I don't know, not enough elements so far to know what's going inside his head.

    I'm on the side that.....

Sphene injuries was never that serious and a certain someone faked her death so they can go around her to approve the creation and use of regulators.

Of course they needed to replace her so they kept her alive all this time in cryostasis just to use her memories to make fake Sphenes just incase the current fake Sphene needed to be repaired or replaced using the real Sphene's memories.

The comment about how her death was common knowledge and announced publicly suggests that her death was a planned fake news. Not to mention Calyx confirming he always planned for Endless Sphene to go insane and fail in her plans after she was created from the beginning. This all points to Calyx being behind everything from the beginning some how though it feels a bit too predictable.
