    The reality is that Physical Ranged jobs will remain irrelevant until there are changes among those in Square Enix who blindly worship melee jobs.

    Looking at some TOP POVs, melees go 19 minutes without dropping a single GCD. If they were 10% ahead in Endwalker, there’s no chance the role will see a nerf in Dawntrail, with bosses having smaller hitboxes and more downtime mechanics. Meanwhile, SE decided to release a NIN that can store its mudras.

    At least in Shadowbringers and Endwalker, the ranged tax was reduced through most patches. But in Dawntrail, things are only going to get worse. SE will overestimate how much damage melees are losing, still haunted by the trauma of seeing two Physical Ranged in the same parties 7 years ago.

    When? As a tank, I only lost one GCD in the entire first phase. And that's because strats were based around catering to melee player uptime and comfort. I can't remember a single part of phase 2 that had any downtime.

    A much better example would have been E8S which the infamous "Ilya Strat" caused several GCD losses, as did Darklit. This was enough to finally push Dragoon out of the meta for the first time since Heavensward. Guess what? It still thoroughly trounced the Prange despite being hindered quite a bit. Nowadays, I could miss a combination of ten positionals/GCDs and still easily out damage a top tier Prange. There is simply zero justification for how comically weak they are. Even less so for Machinist, the supposedly "selfish" equivalent that can't even keep up with Bard and Dancer.

    The fact they specifically mention wanting to "achieve better balance in Ultimate raids" is downright laughable. UCoB and UwU are complete shells of themselves nowadays. TEA only kind of holds up, but barely. DSR and TOP are still mechanically challenging, but any sort of DPS checks have long since died off. FRU will follow suit only a patch later, especially when you consider its DPS checks were already very lenient outside Pandora. For some reason, SE seems to blindly think melee live in some endless nightmare where they're fighting for their lives to maintain uptime. There's not a single fight where the Prange get to shine for anything unique to them. They only exist because of an arbitrary party buff the devs force because otherwise the entire role just dies.

    Mighty Strikes - "While this effect is active, all melee attacks result in critical hits" (Would explain the "missing" MNK Buffs)
    Im fuming thinking that this could be something from savage. Lets hope its OC.

    Ranged DPS again left in the dark.

    Physical Ranged as a role needs more impact. Not just the feel of existence for the 1% buff. SE please!

    I also don't get HOW they can just speak about 'future battle design', when 95%+ of the game is 'old battle design' and then feels bad for physical ranged jobs. Like wtf? xd
    Would it be sooo bad if phys-ranged would one time not be shitty end of the leaderboards in some new fights, as always? I don't get why they prefer melee that much.

    Maybe they should have never introduced phys-ranged, if they are not willing to give them same 'all in all' damage output than others.
    Ranged tax is a joke to me, because we see in all statistics that phys-ranged are just behind.
