    Birds seem like the best choice to me.

    If 'Astro = owl' and 'White mage = swan' are set in stone, I could see Scholar getting a seabird of longstanding myth like an albatross. Sages could get a species of vulture, or anything notable to ancient Greek (eagle, dove).
