Was there a reason we never got to go Koshu during Stormblood?

Koshu being the large island with a city called Bukyo, and the mountain Daitenzan; I always felt this was glossed over, and never really spoken about amongst players and the developers.

While not the first time something like this happened if you consider some mystery places in and around Aldenard as well.

Most likely because they are saving it for a Hingashi expansion, that goes full samurai.
Unless they are lazy and blow it up like they did Garlemald because they are allergic to story with politics atm.

I'm still coping for them to open up Dalmasca, Landis, Bozja, Nagxia and other places that are mentioned, but hidden behind the Mist that is Ilsabard.

So many interesting places, but they decided to take the story into outer space, ends of the universe, time travel and more. So scaling down the story at the moment is a challenge they face.

I think they're saving the rest of Dalmasca for that potential upcoming remake of Final Fantasy Tactics as a later marketing move (if its case, and if it is I wish they didn't do it like that).

Nagxia is a head scratcher, but it being so close to Dalmasca that its likely it would be paired up in a future expansion (I would surprised if it won't be).

Bozja; after the fallout with the writer I think the chances are slim, but I recall the devs. saying they would revisit this later.

I think they have hinted about it as a possibility before. The problem I'd have with it, really, is that we have had a "Japanese-themed" expansion called Stormblood with a "Japan-style" place called Kugane and Samurai, and I wouldn't be enthusiastic about a repeat. I had to try hard to enjoy Stormblood and was able to but it was due to knowing that future expansions wouldn't be themed like that.

I think that other places are of greater interest to the community anyway. They know that Meracydia is on everyone's radar and they are evidently going down Emech Selch's list. They have strongly hinted at G'raha's home area of Corvos around Ilsabard, and Y'shtola's pursuit of other shards. Given how long expansions take to make and subsequently last now, that probably covers most of the next 10 years.

Yeah for the most part, I think it probably would have been better for them to release extra Zones around areas we had been to as like you said we had a Japanese-style place already.

Koshu Island would have been perfect as a post-stormblood extra story at the time, and the same for small places in the Azim Steppe that could not be visited but hinted at.

In ARR the Farreach, The Pearl, and Mazlaya would have been a interesting post-game zones as well since its the only areas left on Aldenard that has not been visited.

By extra zones I mean like just around 2 or 3 between major expansions to fill out places that couldn't be realized at the time within the same geography.

There's still a chance they could do it in the future as a patch story, because they have done things like the variant dungeons that explore a place near there.

I will be surprised if Corvos is anything else but a small hub with a npc that lets you enter a raid / extreme / dungeon. Like Jeuno.

It was a mistake making Stormblood take place in two parts of the world. They should have just went all in on either region so they could save the entire other region for a separate expansion.

Yeah, as good as some parts of Endwalker were. They made the same mistake of rushing everything into one expansion, with the inclusion of just having massive places in the lore being backdrops with surface level storytelling, nuking Garlemald for example and the absolutely dreadful Labyrinthos parts. Stormblood should've been Ala Mhigo and the next expansion should've been Doma AND Hingashi.

Even Dawntrail should've been just Tural and the patch content should've been the "golden city"

I recall the ingame reason is that the country is very isolationist and has a civil war going on, mirroring old Japan and the Sengoku era.
