    You might try this. It's a solution that solved this problem sometimes in the beta, by forcing your updater to go back and check for files that it missed. No guarantees, though.

    Go to the drive you have FFXIV installed at. Find the "SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV" folder.

    Locate the "game.ver" file.
    Open with notepad.
    Change the date to "2010.08.11.2000"
    Well.. you might have to change it to a different date. Possibly 2010.09.19.0000.

    The alternative solution would be to uninstall and re-install, BUT be sure that you delete all of your FFXIV folders manually. Specifically the folders under C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\My Documents\My Games

    ^ This solution is intended for the OP only. Be aware that deleting your FFXIV folders will cause you to lose UI and saved character model data (not your actual character).
