Playing was much more fun with Novice Network Chat

It actually felt like playing an MMO but now that ive reached Yawntrail i'm missing it just chatting with people every now and then. Like it gave me the feeling "look there are other players too" but now im just running around alone and it feels like im playing a Singleplayer RPG.
Is there any reason why there is no World Chat? I mean being afraid of bots would be a lame excuse, they can also run around and use shout.

But yeah I get what you mean theirs no real sense of community in this game, it's really hard for me to make new friends cuz i dont really wanna just send a random tell to random people. So it ends up feeling like a single player game to me.

Its legitimately sad how there's no World Chat. I have yet to see a good reason for there not being one. I'm in Novice Network, but it doesn't quite scratch the same itch as having a true World Chat. For one, NN, at least on Balmung, still has too many people of the "erm NN is a Q&A help desk only" variety. It’s not just about communication, it’s about atmosphere. A true World Chat makes the world feel shared in a way that NN just doesn’t.

The "World Chat" in this game is /shout. Just need to find an area with lots of players, such as Limsa Lominsa or other city states.

There are also:
- Free Companies (see the Community Finder).
- Linkshells and Cross-world linkshells (also see the Community Finder).
- Thousands of discord servers.
- You can do content in Party Finder. Typically doing content there allows you to meet and chat with people while filling, forming a bond and sometimes friendships. This could be maps, hunts, Blue Mage stuff, unsync farms, doing dungeons, Wondrous Tails, Unreal/Extreme, old raids, any other raids, etc.
- You could also try out large-scale content that can be more chatty, such as Alliance Raids, Eureka (and its raid BA), Bozja (and its raids such as DR and DRS), and the upcoming large-scale areas in Dawntrail (Shades' Triangle and Cosmic Exploration).
- You can also try to find likeminded people in the Fellowship Finder, because despite the memes, some people put adverts there looking for people interested in the same things.

I was going to try and post something positive but... then I realised I don't believe myself.

@ Square, with your current player retention issues, CWLS limit of 64 is unacceptable.
Go down your local library and pick up a book on computer science, and then go fix that.

The issue I see with a world chat is that everyone can be in it, including the bad apples. When I play virtually any other MMORPG, I see these bad apples in their world chats. They paint an absolutely awful picture of their game, to me, as a casual player of those games.

It's much better, in my opinion, to find your way into a closer knit group of people that have a lower chance of being bad apples than if you enter a chat with everyone in it.

Bots are a concern, by the way. They used to enter the Novice Network, so SE stopped inviting new players into it automatically, and instead asked Mentors to use Player Search and invite them, carefully avoiding obvious bots.

It’s a japanese game and that kind of small or ‘shit’ talk wouldn’t even happen there even if there was a world chat. They’re not designing this around western people.

Same why Mentor isn’t just a name glamour on japanese servers, but Mentors there will actually sacrifice a day of playtime to help someone.

If you want to re-join NN you'll get an invite if you take a break and come back as a returner or become a crafting mentor which is faster than battle.

Also yeah world chat is rough coming from F2P MMO it's mostly ads for sales or just here would be endless venue ads which is annoying enough in town.
