The one thing that's worth raising for this is that it's a global event, but that it happened five years ago. And even people in real life don't talk much about what happened five years ago unless it was directly relevant to them.

This year is admittedly a bad year for that comparison, because five years ago a Very Big Thing happened that was directly relevant to most everybody; we do talk about that one fairly regularly. And in fairness, Eorzea does talk semi-regularly about Dalamud, the big thing that happened that was fairly directly relevant to their lives; it's not the biggest topic, but it's discussed.

But for Tural and Othard, I feel like all their conversation about it was already done five years ago, and the best you'd get is 'oh yeah that did happen'. It didn't really affect them, and... well, think about how much you talk about something big that happened in another country five years ago.

EDIT: If anything I feel like we should occasionally get people bringing it up as 'hey, how do you feel about This One Thing I Know About Your Country'... but it probably wouldn't actually read the way it should because of how often Dalamud actually does come up. That gag would only work if Dalamud hadn't been talked about since, like... Stormblood.

It's important to note that once Nael activated the Lunar Transmitter in Castrum Novum to initiate Dalamud's fall to Eorzea, it became tidally locked into geosynchronous orbit above Aldenard. At that point, it would never have returned to the skies of Tural regardless of how close it got to the planet. They'd have simply noticed the next day that the red moon did not return to its position in the sky, which would have been a cause for concern but only in an astronomical sense.

Now, Dalamud has been calculated to be roughly 1/4 the size of the Moon (as a rough estimate, some folks later in the thread bring it down to about the size of Mount Olympus): https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/232418

Whether it would have shown up slightly over the Eastern Horizon as it hovered above Eorzea is for someone with Universe Sandbox to figure out, but I am not spending $30 to determine that.

So on the Turali side, the Calamity was a loud explosion across the horizon and likely a freak tidal wave that flooded the lower levels of Tuliyolal and Coastal Settlements. We don't know where the plate tectonics are on Etherys, so we don't know if tidal waves are common along the Turali coast, but everywhere we've been outside of Eorzea, the Seventh Umbral Calamity has basically never been mentioned. It appears to be a localized thing to the region, likely because of the actions of Louisoix.
