I think we should split PC From Console

That ain't an excuse in 2025, Like . . Sorry you can't run it but maybe you should've thought about that when you chose a console. If you can't afford a 200$ walmart PC to play XIV you got other problems. And yes, At this point the average walmart PC is stronger than PS4 will ever be.

PS4 Needs to be sunset or given their own special space for special little boys.

My original character was on Ps4 back when Stormblood hit and that ran like trash, I can only imagine how it runs in 2025 . .

Takes like these are always hilarious to see when you stop to think about it for even a second. Consoles have static specs that developers can work around as opposed to the massive differences between high end PCs and what some folks try to get away running games on that make even a PS4 look glamorous by comparison. Then you can look back at XIV's history and see the time they made a game without taking the PS3 into account and find that good PCs at that time of release struggled to even handle the games cutscenes.

Then to look further, support for older consoles are eventually dropped for better resources. I speculate that PS4 support has only lasted as long as it has due to the shitshow of PS5's release and how long it took for gamers to actually get a hold of a console of their own rather than it being hoarded by scalpers.

Mods and plugins fix the issues Square can't/won't, and are a net benifit to the game. Cope and Seethe, fam.

Consoles are underpowered pieces of crap and on top of that you have to deal with all of the console manufacturer's bullshit (like "whom is allowed to play together with whom" which can become a huge headache when you factor bullshit such as ps+ subscriptions into the mix. My favorite was the ability to use a ps vita as controller on ps4: nobody cared, nobody did it, but Sony promised that it would work for every game so they forced every developer to do the work of implementing and supporting it).

So there's actually a significant cost to supporting consoles.
