I'm more of a negative paladin, my armor is polished and sparkles but I still give negative feedback because they ruined my job a long time ago now.

I'm sure the names of these said comparisons escape you.Pretty sure I heard "quit the game" wayyyy more from the white knight than the other guy. Isn't that all you guys said all the time?
People used to leave constructive criticism, but there's only so much they can take being ignored by the devs before they don't bother with it anymore.
There's been doomsaying on this forum since before ARR launched, even back during the Beta test, and that the game/SE is "going to fail" unless they "urgently do xyz". Some people just are not satisified unless they're complaining.
No matter what SE does it's always wrong.
Telling someone to not spend money on something they don't enjoy is just sensible advice; it doesn't make someone a white knight and I have no idea why people are so attached to complaining for months (some of you years) and giving SE money to do so.
When I felt extreme boredom and distaste for StormBlood, I just logged out and unsubbed, and didn't return for 2 years. I didn't pay $400 to have forum access and complain the entire expansion.
You're projecting your feelings on other people, life doesn't work like that.Telling someone to not spend money on something they don't enjoy is just sensible advice; it doesn't make someone a white knight and I have no idea why people are so attached to complaining for months (some of you years) and giving SE money to do so.

This is why I view the forums as a trap the same way I view housingTelling someone to not spend money on something they don't enjoy is just sensible advice; it doesn't make someone a white knight and I have no idea why people are so attached to complaining for months (some of you years) and giving SE money to do so.

Without a subscription, you eventually lose access to posting here, a place where, if you're disgruntled / have feedback, they redirect you here to post about it with the expectation of being heard
but with some of the changes being made it makes me wonder who they are talking to / getting their feedback from
I mean that's why I joined
When the graphics update was first announced and the benchmark released, I had concerns regarding how the viera looked so I talked about it
There comes a point where if you cannot put out content at a pace worthy of a monthly subscription then something needs to changeI’m pointing out a pattern I’ve observed where critiques often shift without acknowledging the realities of development. For example, people asked for a field operation in Endwalker, and when it was announced for Dawntrail, the criticism shifted to it not coming soon enough. That’s not to say the feedback is invalid, but the goalposts are moving. Not everyone, but some people, what this thread calls Black Knights, criticize everything in bad faith.
You’re right that the devs prioritize certain content over others, and that’s part of the challenge. They have to balance resources, time, and player expectations across a wide range of content. My point isn’t that players shouldn’t ask for things sooner—it’s that we should also recognize that development takes time, and not every delay is a choice made lightly.
I’m not saying the critiques are unfair because they’re critiques—I’m saying they can feel unfair when they don’t account for the constraints the devs are working under. It’s fine to want more content sooner, but it’s also worth considering why certain things take the time they do. Black Knights however do not do this, and simply see another opportunity to tear the devs down. At least, from my perspective.
And you’re absolutely right—everyone is biased, including me. My bias is toward supporting and boosting the things I love about the game and respectfully critiquing what I see as detracting from it's success.
The drought we are currently in functionally started in 6.1. 6.1 was just shy of 3 years ago. Criticism immediately bubbled up in the relatively empty EW patches that there was nothing repeatable. It should not take 3 years to get something out the door considering in the same time period (2018->2021) square released ALL of eureka AND Bozja
The criticism didn’t “reset” because DT came out because we are still in the same repeatable lull that started with 6.1. You bought up eureka orthos which the devs killed by ignoring our criticism that the mobs were pointlessly tanky and the design was hostile to groups over solo players (mob AOE’s could often one shot cleave through walls and across hallways and every mob was excessively tanky to the point that it was faster to level literally any other way)
We shouldn’t be in a lull for this long when they gave us 2 full field operations, a deep dungeon, ishgardian restoration and multiple dungeons in SB across the late SB->ShB period. The change in content cadence is just bad
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
