As an addendum, you can put /systemsounds on a macro (or type it in chat) to temporarily disable the sounds, but this will also turn off sounds like LB charge unfortunately. It is at least a half-solution, but we need better.

Yeah I tried this, but I really need to hear my LB-ready sound.

And I agree those commanders that overuse sounds are deepening the hostility towards commanders in general. I recently had a DRK commander using a 5-4-3-2-1-GO macro with a SFX on every line.

It could also potentially help to turn the volume down on system sounds when doing Frontline, but again this is just another stopgap, when we need a real solution to the problem.
