    What Crafting/Gathering content could be

I posted this in another thread but I feel I should give it it's own dedicated one, cause why not. But giving us crafting and gathering content like Ishgardian restoration and now, cosmic something-or-other, really should be something a little different from our standard crafting and gathering, which is mostly just botted or macro'd by the masses due to it's tediousness. And it could be, if CBU3 would have even the smallest, most minute amount of creativity.

I really think, for content such as this, they should really take a look at PvP. When we enter the new zone, give us a whole new set of skills. Instead of just standard crafting, take a page from 1.0's book, with a little rng and with a little dash of something different. Have us work at stations or directly on the thing being built. Open a pov UI that looks directly at the thing we are building/repairing and have us use the new actions to balance elemental affinities, while we raise quality and progress, similar to how we crafted at the launch of 1.0. We could feed in crystals that are specific to the zone to balance the elements and use actions for quality and progress while seeing the item progress. The stability could even include rng to make it more engaging and not just 'Hit Macro 1 and go back to your show'.

When it comes to gathering, make it a min-game and have us find a plot, open another pov UI and let us to dig here, cut there, chip this out of that. Standard actions could have a chance to give us crafting materials and crystals for the above elemental affinities, making them abundant and we could uncover items to improve quality and progress or even something rare we could use to +1 a craft or some sort of bonus or to give our crafting/gathering actions a little boost. Heck maybe even hide minions or mounts in them with low find rates if they really want a grind for us.

And these are just off the top of my head! Think of the fun system a dedicated dev or three should be able to come up with after some time and conversation.

It doesn't need to be just the a crafting or gathering leve or something that can be botted and is boring as all get out. We are all sitting here screaming for inovation and it feels like Yoshida is just shaking his head and laughing like you would do with a child asking for a unicorn.

It's not that hard and shouldn't be for someone in this sort of profession. It's time to do better because frankly this is just embarrassing.

I do like the spear fishing minigame they added. A shame it's barely used for anything.

They could even adapt that into a fishing minigame for this new content, assuming there is fishing.

They could have fleshed out Whistle While You Work and made it a whole new endgame surrounding these cool actions.

Of course, they did not. They gutted crafters, just like they gut every single piece of content and job in this game.

Agreeing with this — they already had the perfect system in place for it.. they just decided to strip it out because we can’t have nuance like that in the game… nope.. unironically would even encourage more people to actually try expert recipe crafting in these zones as gear wise it’d have been very accessible whilst retaining that skill and reward aspect.

I take it gathering can be in the same breath as crafting? Wasn't inspired by the "walk up to crystals thing and just keep pushing x" moon crystal gathering thing.
Back when this game was a shared experience it would have been something to do while having fun with friends. Now it's just nothing much to do, on your own, with noone else around to care about it.
I struggle to believe Yoshi would choose to spend a lot of time walking up to things and just pushing X. I think Yoshi only respects serious hard game play.
I love the space suit but I doubt I'll be able to bring myself to endure it.
Ehhh. I don't feel strongly about it. Which is might be a bad sign. Just feels irrelevant to me

EQII had crafting/gathering zones with some things like what you mentioned. It was pretty fun. They could stand to take some things from that system. For expert recipes, too. EQII had the events but it was much more interactive and you could save a craft with skilled usage of abilities if something went wrong. Expert here unfortunately relies too much on RNG instead of skill in reacting to the events.
