I mean FFXIV is just that right ? Jobs are mostly all the same.
As someone who doesn't care about 1-2-3 combo, rotations or builds, Blitzer would be a dream given the great animations it would come with.
Originally, Tactical Flee and Full-Out Defense Formation were going to share a cooldown so you would have to choose between them or that if you did end up with a second physical ranged, you could use Tactical Flee and they could use their party damage reduction. Would it help slightly if I brought that back? ( ´・ω・)~ ?EDIT: For a minor critique, you would have to do something so Tactical Flee and Scholar's Expedient can't be spammed back to back. Or even Tactical Flees back to back since you could easily have two RDPS if the damage was high enough. That many party wide movement boosts could, and would, trivialize the DDR mechanics.




This is basically the position I’m inNo. Kandraxx is absolutely in the right here. What does a new job offer? Job lore? Role quests haven't been the same since SHB. Innovative gameplay? HAhahahahaha every class that has something special going for it is being homogenized and lobotomized.
The concerns are warranted, like it or not. Because even if this job started out new and interesting, it would be at best overtuned and game warping (PCT), and at worst dragged out back and shot until it's almost as braindead as healer rotation (VPR).
FF14 should not be making new jobs until FF14 figures out how to make their current jobs work. This isn't Endwalker and certainly not Shadowbringers. I don't trust the devs at all right now.

OP this is a wonderful set of ideas (though as Mikey pointed out it may be a bit overpowered) who’s only real idea I disagree with is the expedient equivalent but that’s because I’m a selfish SCH player
However I just don’t see the benefit of any more new jobs at this point. Like genuinely (and I’m not a gooner) the most exciting part of a blitzballer job to me right now would be the fact that I’d love if the male AF set was a speedo like someone made a blender example recently of
I rest couldn’t care about how the job played because I know it would just be more of the same beige slop


My only criticism is that there isn't enough mention of kicking the blitzball and the limit break not being the Jecht Shot where you catch and kick a literal Meteor, like how Jecht does in Dissidia Final Fantasy.

I'm all for this idea. Maybe if we get 1 more ranged phys, they can balance them out like they did the healers. We could have 2 buffers (BRD/DNC) and 2 debuffers (MCH/BLZ) and it could help lift the others up with their job identities.
We'll never get blitzball in the Golden Saucer and I think a blitzballer class makes that up to the players. I also +1 Jecht Shot as an ability.
I really want them to take risks in the future. Including new jobs.
The idea of a Blitzer sounds great.
But what if they try something new and add something to the 1-2-3 combo.
Maybe let the ball bounce back towards you in a random location around you , giving you a minor potency buff in your 1-2-3 combochain after catching the ball.

Physical ranged are in a rough spot currently but I've always thought having a blitzball related job would be a better implementation of it than them adding a minigame
Maybe it's just me, but if I had to choose I'd definitely want the job because I never enjoyed the minigame in X that much
Too much celestial weapon grinding for me throughout my multiple playthroughs lol

It's hard to think up a ranged phys job now. Soldier we get an assault rifle... Too close to mch. Crossbow etc too close to bard.
Sniper or agent same problem. Anything with a drone or laser too close to sage. Mch is a too much of a coverall for any ranged firearm.
Well End up like Gilgamesh throwing weapons from a subspace wormhole at a distance.




I thought that sounded really neat until I remembered stages like M4 and E3 that can get really narrow while lots of things are going off around you. Getting lost in the sauce and falling off the stage to chase a ball might turn it into the next dragoon.I really want them to take risks at in the future. Including new jobs.

We have a ton of jobs that use different genres of swords and then there’s SMN and SCH who use the exact same weapons. They may have an out because they share the same base class (for now), but then you have WHM and BLM who both wield staves. Used to be that WHM staves were typically wood while BLM were stone, metal, or bone, but that’s been thrown out the window a long time ago.It's hard to think up a ranged phys job now. My point is that there’s wiggle room for getting “too close” to another job’s weapon. I think throwing and kicking a ball is different enough of an action to differentiate a hypothetical blitzballer from dancer.
This shouldnt be much of a problem imo.
SE likes to give us abilitys to work around the weaknesses of the jobs.
BLM Triple Cast - RDM Acceleration ect. Both Abilitys can be used for either movement or a dmg gain during raidbuffs.
Giving Blitzer for example a cooldown that replaces the next 3 combo GCD's with exploding balls for increased dmg while removing the ball catching minigame could fix this. This would also increase the skill ceiling and room for optimisation for the players who seek it. Simular to BLMs Triple Cast.
