I always wonder. Do they play their own game? Do they have testers?

It all comes down to pressing the same piano loop ad nauseam, while dealing with the artificial lag/delay, whatever you wanna call it. No skill is impactful or fun to press on it's own like in other MMOs.

I'm not even talking about the fact that the mainstream raids, dungeons and bosses are also absolute trash tier design.

1-2-3 skill combos, that would have maybe been acceptable in the mid 90s, I press a button that does essentially nothing, to enable another button that does half of a thing, to then enable a third button that actually has an impact and a purpose. Wow.

GCD/OGCD just scrap this, it doesn't work and is a major contributor to the s... gameplay. Just do a fast GCD like WoW.

You've made like five threads in the past complaining about button bloat and asking for buttons to proc the next in the combo, and now you're saying that's bad. Have you changed your mind?

Tbh it sounds like you're having a bit of an existential crisis with the fundamentals of the medium. Most videogames involve you pressing buttons to perform actions in-game, just like turning a page to read a book. Focusing on the joy you lack from turning the page is to mistake the medium's phenomenological nature. Taking a break from videogames can often be healthy.

I like the Combat, i really like it i mean play ESO you will see its exactly the same, play WoW even with "Build Customization" you will see it will be the same, you press your Skills in order or when they are up there is literally no difference then any other MMO the only difference is that FFXIV has a Slower GCD then other games and that is exactly the reason why i like it

When players can accept its not even gameplay, its just stroll and netflix we have never had gameplay its always been do something else while your playing

Yes. They have attacked other game developers for not playing their own game. The developers said they cap their weekly tomestones and do the raids themselves. Yoshi-P has even streamed himself doing savage and alliance raids, and the community team also do this regularly on twitch.

Do they have testers?

Over 100 if you check the credits and look at their past development panels that explain the QA process. It's why the game is so bug-free compared to many other games and software apps.

In fact, if you think there is a bug that isn't addressed, feel free to post it in the bug forum and SE will cast their judgement and tell you if it's a bug or not.

The game is basically rehearsing a dance. That's just how this game works. Whether you like that is up to you tbh, but it has been this way for most of the game's life.

Partly this is a design decision. They want the effect to be tied to the animation, so there is an "animation delay" before the effect, which many other games don't bother with. They have actually been adjusting this recently, in PvP and with invulns, so we'll see where that goes.

Problem is, if you have the effect happen early, you get gap closers jump in before the jump animation occurs, which is most likely why they felt they had to change the animation.

It's also just however they code it. The testers don't control if the programmers are good at programming. Their job is just to remove bugs, not bad programming or infrastructure decisions.

A lot of the issues you're likely frustrated about aren't as easy to notice at low pings and the developers likely have very low pings.

I don't like GCDs that fast, personally. I think they just need to improve the code behind that. But the truth is that QoL isn't their priority and when they do focus on it, it takes them years so it's ultimately a programmer or mindset issue.

Well it's also about the animations, realistically. They know a lot of players are into glamour and animations, so it's not aimed at people looking for complexity.

What combat? As the next person said, you can watch a movie or netflix show while winning a 'battle' in this game and the harder content is only harder cause it's all about knowing where to stand next and when.

I doubt they ever acknowledge. I'm not sure they're even aware of how unhappy people are, but even if they were they aren't going to admit the game is doing poorly right now.

I actually cancelled my sub to speak with my wallet and was looking around curiously how the forums are doing on similar reasons.
I'm sure they've noticed cause there's a LOT of talk about how poor DT is and about actually quitting cause of DT. A lot could come back but a lot also won't. Especially those who officially lost their house. I have a friend watching over my FC house but if I lose it, I won't come back either. So canceling to wait and see if the game gets better but may also not come back at all. Will just have to wait and see. certainly not paying for an expensive sub just to get chores and reskin mobs as content.

The new raid was fun though. Not worth my sub still.
