Im from Germany and i tell you let them be, you can find something like that in every mmo out there and if you avoid the last area in the party finder everything is fineThinking that potential Cybergrooming is not a big issue is wild. We have 12 y/o's on earth that are playing for example GTAV. A +18 warning doesnt do shit but doesnt mean that this is not an issue.
In several EU countrys its even against the law. This kind of "RP" could even get you to jail. Doesnt matter if you dont know the age of the other person or/and have the consent of said minor.
This Game is available to 12+ y/o's in my country.
How can someone think that this is not a big problem after looking at the 2 following screenshots

It also boggles my mind that almost every single person trying to defend this here comes from the american datacenter. Is America really that kind of place where stuff like this is socially acceptable?
I can only repeat myself. I have nothing against that kind of RP existing in FF14. I have something against the way its advertised in the In-Game Partyfinder and Shoutchat on a daily basis.
Other games are not like this.
WoW: I can sit an entire day in Orgrimmar without seeing a single ERP Event advertisement.
BD Online: I can idle in Valencia City without someone normalizing pr**titution in public chat.
ESO: I can open the Partyfinder without someone advertising their +18 "RP" tavern
This is smth that shouldnt be advertised ingame. We got third party websites and discord server for this.
We need to protect minors and shouldnt confront them with pr**titution, virtual S** and all that stuff on a daily basis while they do the "normal" content. Not in a Game made accessible to 12 y/o. FF14 is not an "Adult Game".
Players are exposed to what appears to be sex trafficking as early as Sastasha if they go hors-piste; they are invited to escort a courtesan in one of the early levequests. FF14 is a 13+ game riddled with adult themes from ARR onwards.I can only repeat myself. I have nothing against that kind of RP existing in FF14. I don't RP so I do find the ads to be creepy and I'm not a fan of what happened to PF since 2020 but realistically RP is allowed in FFXIV and GMs can't ban every single poster who does 18+ club ads without being super controversial as seen in the past. They did it once, and many people came to complain here for pages.I can only repeat myself. I have nothing against that kind of RP existing in FF14. saying you are running a place where 18+ only isn't an issue in most places in the world companies do it all the time, they aren't being exposed to anything outside the existence of 18+ areas, if you do not want them even to know things like that exist you shouldn't let your kid on the internet at all. as for that no American Parents are just as annoying irl as well making their kids everyone else problem don't want your kid around it then use software to watch their screen from your screen ghost ware exist. Your kids are not everyone else problem, they are yours alone period. I have been dealing with that bs from people's parents since I was 14 which alone removes all weight to their argument lolThinking that potential Cybergrooming is not a big issue is wild. How else am I supposed to make gil when bots are ruining the market? OP if you are willing to pay me 10000000 gil each week I'll stop advertising my club

"Virtual Clubbing", ERP and general housing events people make up the majority of the subscriptions now that's why.
Now that in Japan their SaGa franchise is gaining some traction again and the SaGa gacha game still printing money left and right they probably do a full Nintendo and don't even care about ''lesser performing franchises'' like FF anymore, given the desolate state XIV is in and FF16 and Rebirth being a complete waste of drive space.

oh no the children. the poor innocent children. they gonna be traumatized for their whole life. only because they see characters in their white underwear talking dirty to each other.

So wait, are we actually arguing here that just because there *might* be minors around, adults shouldn't be allowed to do adult things? I find the ERP/club/whatever advertisements as annoying as the next cat, but as long as they're not being explicit or lewd in public spaces (meaning places like shout/yell/say chat in a city or novice network, or instances with a lot of people like frontlines), where people just walking by might have to perceive what they're doing, they're not doing anything wrong.
Just advertising that adult stuff is going to be happening at a certain place/time is not in and of itself lewd or explicit, and if someone who is too young wanders into a private party that was explicitly stated to be 'adults only' then that's their own fault and poor judgement and rudeness for going where they're not supposed to be.
I am curious how common players younger than 18 even are, though, considering the game requires a subscription to play; I guess kids could be buying gametime cards somewhere irl but it feels like it would be a bit of a barrier to entry for anyone too young to have a credit card...

I'm fairly certain you can buy physical time cards, and if not then I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to either stick to free trial to do things or get the parents to pay for it if not buy it themselves
Whenever I was younger and didn't have a card of my own, I'd ask my parents to buy something for me online with theirs and I'd pay them back with physical cash from birthday cards or w/e else
