Yuweyawata Field Station is so wrong

My complain is gonna be about this MSQ duty on 7.1

Pls, if you are just gonna go with "git gud" get out.

Let's make this clear. I cleared this dungeon, on my first try, as Paladin, with bots.

    But its still so wrong.

I been noticing this since the start of Dawntrail, maybe not much on EW. But the difficulty of the MSQ duties, has been going crazy.

And I have the skill to clear it, but I know a lot of people won't. And maybe I don't want to really play something like this, even if I can.

This dungeon was basically an expert dungeon. Something a lot of players has been evading. The bosses were crazy. And I never have seen something like this BEFORE on a MSQ duty. And I think this can be bad for FF14.

Let's face it, no matter what. if FF14 shines for something, its the plot. I'm not saying its not a good MMORPG, and I'm not saying it doesn't have a good gameplay, but it's nothing special either. FF14 doesn't shine against other MMOs for its gameplay, precisely.

So I know people (And regardless of my skill, I'm one of those people) who only want to play this MMO for the plot. Simple as that.

And I know that a lot of that people don't have my level of skill. Or even greater. And I think there's nothing wrong with that. Not everybody needs to be a tryhard OP player.

For a long while, for years, FF14 offered content to different kind of players. And that was something important made it shine too.

But now I feel this is in danger. I even tried to search for people's opnions, and those were not good. And this can make the game lost people. And I would hate that to happen, because I actually love FF14.

But after finish the duty, and still having plenty of time after it. For the first time in years....I didn't want to keep playing. And I didn't have it bad. Cause I read of people playing with friends or other players, wiping all the time. In this dungeon. And I'm sorry but I'm not gonna be as stupid to say "Oh they lack skill" I'm not that kind of person.

Cause even if I managed to cleared, without much difficulty, I noticed that was not a difficulty level that should be on the MSQ.

That was not okay. I will probably keep playing tomorrow. But it didn't sit well for me. Cause I tought about friends of mine, that will probably get fustrated.

And people play this to disconnect and have fun. And not everybody has fun having to clear high difficulty shit.

Some people just want to be able to beat the duty, without having to go "I CAN DO THIS" and just keep enjoying the MSQ.

    And those people pay to.

I hope this post didn't come as too hostile. But I felt like I had to talk about this. If the devs ever read this forum or not.

And I don't know if this will be solved in the future patches I still have to play. Cause skills apart, since I work a lot, I'm a very casual player.

But I don't think, I will feel motivated to play, if this is going to be the new meta.

    Thx for reading.

It's not really a high difficulty dungeon. You have to be awake and you might fail a few times before you understand mechanics and can execute them, but that's all.

That said, it's normal for videogames to get more difficult the further the player progresses through the story. This is fairly standard all across the medium. Setting aside matters of accessibility, being able to grow as a player over the course of a game is part of a conventional literacy that is reasonable to be expected of you. I don't think presenting it as a dichotomy of either being an incapable casual player or being tryhard OP is sensible.

i agree that msq dungeons which are a requirement should not be that hard but to revisit the last years msq dungeons most of the time been very forgiving. I actually dont see an issue if a dungeon requires you to be awake and learn a mechanic. Where it drops the ball is when the dungeon gets worse then ex content which i dont think this one is ? i havent played the "new" one. Otherwise if you revisit old ex content you will see how many actual ex mechs they use in dungeons and people just do them without thinking because well they got better. i dont know i hear a lot of people who had troubles but others are enjoying it.

If MSQ dungeons are going to be challenging for skilled players and clearable by less-skilled ones, such dungeons need a dual-difficulty option.

This ongoing issue is never going to be solved by one group telling the other that they just need to try harder.

The only thing I would change about this dungeon is making the last boss' bottomless pit into a puddle of the second boss' goo or quicksand or something that doesn't punish the slightest misstep with instant death.

I admit I suck at the second boss temporary misdirection but I’ve always sucked at temporary misdirection

Other than that I don’t really think anything in this dungeon is any harder than anything from DT’s dungeons in general

I suck at temporary misdirection, so I just run tank, stand in the middle, and invuln the proximity damage to ignore it! lol

Same. I wish there was a training feature where I could spend a couple of hours trying to learn how to do it, but it has always baffled me and led to me maining WAR.

Misdirection is not a complex mechanic. You wait for the hand to point a direction and then no matter what movement you make you go in the direction of the hand pointer. Repeat until you reach the wall. Alternatively just eat the damage down and bleed as it still does less damage than the proximity?

So reading these repeated arguments lead me to decide to do a test. About a month ago there was an accident at work, and as a result i broke my left arm. Its currently not strong enough to hold a controller, and to sit it on my desk to try using the keyboard is super painful(bad angle for the messed up shoulder). So i wondered, could i clear this dungeon via trust without pressing any buttons? Ive done the dungeon normally, i know and can do all the mechs. But always while pressing buttons. So ive just finished. Qued as monk(chosen because its barely geared and because it shared the role with the other dps to avoid giving any extra buffs to the party), used mouse-look movement. Stood back with the kid during all trash pulls(after moving enough forward for tank npc to get agro). Dodged boss attacks, pressed 0 buttons. Not a single attack, buff, or debuff - not even a sprint. Actively slowed down the three of them because the healer insisted on giving me all the buffs, even though the other dps was the only one fighting. Result of the test is that in about 45 mins the three NPCs i brought(thancred, uri, estinien) can finish the dungeon. No it isnt a "blind" test, like i said i do know the mechanics to look out for. But still, if you can beat the dungeon literally without hitting any buttons then how much easier do they need to make it to satisfy people?
