So with that being said, will it ever be fixed so it doesn't look like an out of place pile of seaweed on a character's head? Just asking, because the concept art for it actually looked good, while the official release of it is so bad I bought it for 18,000 Gil off the market board just for the lols.

I can't imagine it being fixed.

I've seen one artfully-dyed version on a fem-midlander that didn't look like seaweed, but yeah, not my thing.

At the very least, it needs to look like it's actually attached to the head of the character and doesn't look like it was photoshopped into the game.

Even though it's rare nowadays to see someone wearing this hairstyle, pretty much every time I see a character that had it, it always looked out of place and wrong. Like the hairstyle wasn't finished cooking or something.

They answered in one of the liveletters or interviews I don't remember which. They apologized for being unable to being faithful to it, that their artists tried their best and could only come with less curls than expected and struggled with 3D triangle limitations, and will be working in the future to find solutions to get better results for other potential hairstyles. Not verbatim but I think it was pretty much the gist of it.

Personally I'm not totally sure how they could greenlight that mass of flacid spaghetti (unless it's star trek gahk idk), but I genuinely think they tried to go about modeling thin strands where they should instead have gone with bigger volumes and chunks.
