They just need to let us freely float stuff with a height axis. That's it. Bonus points if we can rotate objects vertically too.

Could people make funky looking house interiors with it? Probably. Does anyone actually care? Probably not.

Add it to the list of things CBU3 will never do, though. Unfortunately.

It's strange that the devs haven't added a 3D gizmo for placing items given they've essentially endorsed the glitches and left them intact.

It's really burning me up that I can't place down furniture in the higher areas of my house without needing to use tedious glitches.

You don't have to glitch. Use add-ons.
You don't have to find crafting a misery while changing jobs. Use add-ons.
You don't have to find reopening windows frustrating. Use add-ons.
You don't enjoy putting all your crafts and recipes and tracking gargantuan gear crafts together. You can do it literally all in game with signposts for you like everyone else... With add-ons.
(Just if anyone complains gaslight them that it's not a problem and make out crafting aid uI add-ons are the rare exception and not the almost ubiquitous rule)
Find constantly looking up where to teleporting around for that horrific craft is sapping your energy... Add-ons can help with teleporting too.
You don't have to be left out of savage, crafted gear. It's way easier... Whether you want help earning Gil in 1000 ways or crafting your own... with add-ons.
Improve your DPS a bit? Netcode fix can help with your weaving. Use add-ons.
Want to feel part of savage? The peer pressure is real! At the very least your are going to need to improve your rotation. Using yours friends logging addons or your own... your going to need add-ons.
Want to join a high end instance. Noone wants to be stuck with you practicing in game. (Have you not seen how they are now designing instances to keep up with the hardcire raiders!) Use a sim. Frankly that's an add-on. It's part of the game... but it's not.
Want to be able to see as much of the arena as your mate with a wide screen? An add on will be needed so that poors like you can play the game the same way.
Not enough content? Do RP! For that your going to need add-ons.
Didn't come here for the game play at all? Well now you don't even need to farm dungeon for gear. Just select it in the drop down using... adons!
Want to harras someone across all their alts? Thanks to some elementary school coding design, add-ons can help with that, and a new one is being written now to replace the last one that was taken down. Failing that... just add wireshark.
Want the edge in PvP? Just use add ons.
Find the bad launcher design irritating, just use add-ons.

It'd definitely be nice if they added a feature like that, and would allow for more flexibility and customization for players.

This, this right here. The Z axis is getting stored SOMEHOW or else glitched furniture would immediately fall to the floor.

Give us the ability to directly manipulate the X, Y, and Z positions of a piece of furniture. Put a bounding box on it if you don't want people to get too far beyond the walls, the floor, or ceiling. And rotate the degrees of the item.

This is a basic object manipulation thing that even free image editing software provides in this day and age.

For crying out loud, WorldsAway, the Fujitisu virtual world from 30 years ago, had basic Z axis manipulation, and it's how we got a sense of 3D in our side scroller 256 color pixel apartments.

You know what else would be nice? If we could reliably select furnishings by clicking on them. If that could just... work, instead of it constantly acting up and requiring you to click on a very specific part of the furnishing from a very specific angle for it to highlight.

Bonus points if the name of the selected furnishing displayed at the top of the screen doesn't act as a cursor-proof barrier that you can't click through.

My favorite is when you move a wall or a rug and random things attach themselves to it lol.
