The slow decline of FFXIV, a summary.

It's just playing it super safe and not doing anything really new. Of course it's going to get stale. There's only so many times you can reskin the same enemy model taken from older games. Only so many times you can reskin map dungeons, reskin Eureka\Bozja same-but-different, and reskin Diadem\Ishguard Restoration. If\When Criterion makes a return, there will be 12 reskined paths.

There arent many MMOs out there anymore with a good population so no not really, the best decision based on playerbase was literally FFXIV

What are you talking about? Besides Limsa, you barely see people. You wait a long time in PF to fill up (on Light), and if it does fill up, it's mostly the same people from yesterday. The population was good, but it isn’t anymore. Maybe some came back for the event to do the "speak with NPC" quest that’s all.

Saying there aren’t other MMOs out there is straight-up not true. I tried out WoW now since this game is what it is, and surprise the population is insane. People are everywhere, of course more in the new zones, but be honest: when was the last time you saw a random person running around in Kozama’uka?

Stop comparing to WoW? No problem let’s go with GW2. People are running around in every area of the game. Sure, they may not have the most players, but the ones who are there aren’t AFK bots in Limsa they’re actually playing the game.

The wild thing is, player numbers keep sinking and sinking. And if you were to (for a social experiment) remove the housing timer or extend it to half a year instead of 40 days, you’d see an even more drastic drop.

It’s one thing to want to defend this game another to spread BS like that.

The problem is, when they do try something new, people complain that it isn't what they wanted. Take island Sanctuary for example. Whether it was because people had higher hopes for it, or it was marketed as something it wasn't, doesn't matter as much as the fact it just didn't hit. Even if it wasn't exactly what was marketed, if it was still fun, it would have been a success.

However, if something doesn't land, what do people ask for? The old stuff back. We should have got an Exploration zone rather than Island sanctuary. Relics were just glorified tome weapons, etc. Can you really blame the devs for going back to older ideas and changing them, knowing that, chances are, it will be successful.

Maybe most easily accessible is a better way to put it both by volume thanks to amount of degenerates and by animations and such to carry them in the act itself thanks to mods (If SE truly cared about mods they'd be gone by now).
One could argue that WOW potentially has a better one since graphically it cannot carry you so the writing quality would need to be higher, I've read RP profiles there and its some deep stuff.

It's more accessible now than ever. The game didn't always have animations or Mare, and ERP existed long before those tools. That said, WoW has historically had a stronger RP scene overall. Most ERPers were never in it for compelling storytelling or to impress anyone beyond being a Tinder profile. That's why the writing quality has always been bad, and the RP profiles are unappealing. Impressing you with artistic writing was never those individual's goals. It's a completely different audience. ERP in FFXIV is essentially disguised sexting, and those who genuinely seek story-driven RP are caught in the crossfire. Adding animations doesn’t enhance roleplay; it makes the "one-night stand" more convenient with less effort by omitting most of the writing.
