Since we don't know the exact cause, it's possible SE could fix the issue with their existing DX11 Graphics API. I haven't heard of other DX11 games having this problem (correct me if I'm wrong), so it's possibly something in the game's control.

The only thing we can tell for certain, is that translating the calls to Vulkan via DLL replacement (or maybe playing on Linux?) seems to help.
It's plausible that FF14 might be using the graphics API wrong or unconventionally, and DXVK happens to catch & fix that, either as a side effect of translation or because other games caused issues by doing something similar in the past.

The ball is solidly in Square Enix's court now, and unfortunately as far as I know they neither acknowledged the issue nor promised a fix yet.
Worst case, pending an answer from SE, you may have to assume it will never be fixed, and decide if you're willing to take the gamble and potentially play with lower FPS or the DLL replacement workaround.

You could also not upgrade at all this year, unless you actually need more powerful hardware or your existing 3060ti is failing, certainly for FF14 I don't think upgrading from a 3060ti is warranted. I think the 9070 is generally still the second best card (after the XT variant) this year unless you really need heavy RT (and don't play old physX games). That said, I'm more than a little biased against Nvidia's attitudes and pricing for no appreciable performance gains.

So I should wait ? However, as state above Nvidia still using some kind of black magic in some games, FFXIV seems to be in this list. Not really surprised, iirc in the early versions Nvidia logo was even displayed somewhere...

Anyway, 3060ti is a good card, but can't have a steady 120fps, so am still thinking about a RTX4070... Unless someone tells me that even with a 4070, I won't get thos 120 FPS... am mainly playing FFXIV and Fornite, in case anyone is wondering. <3

Have a look at the 5070 Ti review from gamers nexus. They specifically benchmark FFXIV, and have a bunch of cards listed in their benchmark data, including the 4070.

    https://gamersnexus.net/gpus/do-not-...-ti-benchmarks

Also, if you don't mind some artifacting, you could give Lossless Scaling's frame generation a go.
I'm using it with my aging 2080 Ti to double my framerate from 75 to 150 and I think it works pretty well.

Lossless Scaling is available on Steam for about €7, I think.

It says Nvidia even on the benchmark tool for dawntrail

also if you want positive 100 FPS and you are a moon magic user well that might not be possible without a 90 series nvidia card, tho it should be possible with the 9070 xt's if AMD or SE fix the issue, i need 165 FPS to match my monitors 1440 refresh rate.

Finally built my 1st PC, ran the benchmark and did some raiding over the last 2 days.

Satisfied with this especially since I got the 9070 XT at MSRP. My 2K monitor has a 165 hz max so I'm not sure I'm going to bother with further troubleshooting the drivers/directx/vulkan at this point.

    Truncated report from the benchmark:

FINAL FANTASY XIV: Dawntrail Benchmark Ver. 1.1

Never heard of an official benchmark tool, so i had to try out:

I usually play in 4k which cuts the score roughly in half:

    Score: 15717 Extremely High
3840x2160 Custom DirectX11 FSR Borderless Windowed
    AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor

Ugh! This generation of GPU releases is so stressful and annoying, extra so if you're in Europe like me. From the low/non-existent stock to fake MSRP and BS marketing, it's such a sh*t show >.< At least it seems this conversation was productive in here

That said, I am now seriously considering grabbing a one of the 7900 XTXs on their way out seeing as 9070 XT prices in the UK are well over MSRP, some retailing at ludicrous prices as high as £900 GBP, i.e. $1165 USD ... what. the. F. ... cheapest 9070XT I could find in stock in UK is at £670 GBP, i.e. $867 USD. More than $250 OVER the MSRP ... what's even the point anymore >.<

I figure, at least if I'm gonna get shafted, I might as well go all the way and get the better performing 7900 XTX? I don't really care about Ray Tracing and I despise scaling and fake frames so all this new stuff is w.e. to me anyways. Decisions, decisions ...

But anyhows, hope this convo continues to stay productive and fingers crossed maybe SQeenix does fix the game on 9700XT >.<

P.S. Does anyone here have personal experience with the 7900XTX in FF? If so, what's it like?

Myea, it seems the 9070 XT is a bit all over the place on FF specifically >.< I still hope it's somehow fixed but between this and what turned out to be a fake MSRP (at least in Europe), I've gone ahead and jumped ship and ordered a 7900 XTX in the end at a mere £130 more than the "$600" 9070 XT xD
