This is not entirely a zero sum game. The prizes do not cost a lot but not really relevant. Advertising on Blue + X need not be in any way at all 'significantly' more costly. Doing both should not be an issue.

There is also such a thing as bad advertising. X had now reached that stage. Annecdotally, Every Democrat almost seems to think negatively of Musk, and many republicans would prefer he not be part of the package. Annecdotally. Not worth much. Be we are all not that stupid.

Sub runs out in about 3 days. I have some fun the last month sub. But it's more like, meh I've managed to get by.

My issue isn't with one platform being better than another, its that I don't want to have social media accounts, and do want to get cloud hair (last competition), and other cool prizes!

Is there some bonus program going on, "simp 20 times on another platform, get a free blue checkmark for a month" or something? Are you actually being paid to defend that platform in other forums? If so, how much do you get, where can someone apply?

I mean, you do get that you are basically the worst spokesperson for that platform in here, yeah? As in that you clearly validated every concern that has been voiced regarding that platform in all the threads that have been made so far. It's like a restaurant review saying "The owner is rude", and the restaurant answering every such review with a barrage of profanities.

In addition to the many technical and privacy issues associated with X, its owner means it has become a lightning rod for these wretched culture wars, as well as more general political polarization. Companies that favor X thus get drawn into those same battles, as now evidenced by multiple threads here.

So am I reading this right, when you sign into X to sign up for contests for FFXIV, you also get automatically pulled into culture wars and other nasty debates and stuff? Damn.

I agree that it being in the forums would be nice, but X still has a huge reach until it burns down.
While I won't sign in because I despise social media in general, I think its a bit silly to start boycotting X or trying to get Square Enix to join some unknown alternative when you can just bubble yourself just for the contests and not take part into any "culture wars". Its free to sign in after all? Just look at FFXIV content and ignore the rest?

X is mostly the right and center while Bluesky is mostly the left in a massive majority, there you go I said it.

The people wanting competitions to be held on Bluesky are simply people that dont support Elon's political views (and also directly disapprove of Trump as president).

People have the right to their political views, but dont expect gaming companies to cater to them. X is a perfectly fine platform and you can avoid all the political drama by... just not looking at it.

Step 2 : Click the first link that pops up
Step 3 : You can now participate in the competition with 0 drama at all or political stuff.
