    Flip and Add Math

I wish all the DoTs could be flipped to have duration first and then potency with a math-handled addendum. This would make it so players wouldn't need to do the math, and for the uninterested, even know the server tick algorithm - which I'd argue they shouldn't need to - in order to make informed decisions about spell use.
    Aero
Deals wind damage with a potency of 50.
Additional Effect: Wind damage over time
    Duration: 30s
Potency: 30 (300 total over duration)

    Regen
Grants healing over time effect to target.
    Duration: 18s
Cure Potency: 250 (1500 total over duration)
This one in particular I think would go a long way to helping new White Mages and Astrologians recognize the power of HoTs. 250 could be misinterpreted as "total, spread out over the duration." 1500 lets the player know this is an outstanding spell right away.

    And importantly:
    Flamethrower
Delivers damage over time to all enemies in a cone before you.
    Duration: 10s
Potency: 100 (1100 total over duration)
Effect ends upon using another action or moving (including facing a different direction).
    Cancels auto-attack upon execution.
Triggers the cooldown of weaponskills upon execution. Cannot be executed during the cooldown of weaponskills.
Having this present in all your DoTs would make it so people might not even realize Flamethrower's weird, but again, they'd be able to make a proper assessment of how/when to use it.

Nitpick, Flamethrower acts like a ground dot but on a 1sec timer, so it technically deals 1100 potency over duration due to the initial tick at 0s.

I agree displaying the total amount of expected potency would push people to use their dots more and understand how much weight they do have in any toolkit.

    Re: Flamethrower:
A good point, and very much sells my point, because having it just say 1100 means people don't have to know "this goes off once per second plus once at the start because it's in the category that-" in order to know it does 1100 in the course of a 10-second channel.

Yeah it's for reasons of non-standard tick rates that I prefer DoTs in general always being listed as "X potency over Y seconds". In the extremely rare case they'll ever add something like Curse of Doom or Curse of Agony from WoW, they can always give those two exceptions different wordings (CoD deals all damage in one tick at the end, CoA ramps up in damage).
