Please alter the sound of the /shakedrink emote

I wish I had somewhere other than here to send this feedback, but so it goes.

The sound of the /shakedrink emote is very loud, never ends, and significant for me and undoubtedly some other people, triggers my misophonia such that I have a negative physical reaction to the sound. Dozens of players have used it to irritate and grief in such places as Limsa Lominsa and around the Gold Saucer aetheryte. Players have even made alts and whole free companies dedicated to using /shakedrink at crowded aetherytes in order to grief other players.

I have nearly 30 players on my blacklist because of this emote, which has significantly cut down on the problem, and I've also changed my audio settings to reduce the sound from other players, but this does not work in instances and raids where people will use the emote while waiting for someone to watch a cutscene or for planning. The only way to escape that is to leave the instance entirely and take a 30 minute penalty, though fortunately some people have been kind and stopped when asked. Though by then, for me, the damage has already been done and my physical reaction to the sound won't die down for several minutes.

So I would like to ask that the sound either be altered--lowered in volume, changed somewhat--or better yet, that the sound for the emote no longer loops, so that using the emote will only make a sound of a few seconds length rather than one that lasts for hours.

I fully agree with this, I dont know why this game loves to support the most obnoxious things, teleporting to Limsa and having 5 people doing that emote while being afk is the most annoying thing and the sound is loud and triggering even if I dont have a disorder but I still do have tinnitus and it triggers the ringing in my ears pretty badly, same for the blacksmith forges and the screeching with the stone for whatever other job it is, and no, muting the entire game or sound effects is not an option.

Give us more options for sound effects.

You can lower the sound in System Configuration > Sound Settings > Sound Effects

That doesnt work, that lowers all sound effects and we shouldnt have to basically mute the entire game because of it.

You do not lower every sound, you lower specifically Sound Effects and it will not "mute the entire game".

It quite literally lowers the sound of... every sound effect, because of one or two. So no that's not a solution.

Sound effects do not affect Master Volume, BGM, Voice, System Sounds, Ambient Sounds nor Performance, so it does absolutely not "mute the game". OP asked for an option to lower this sound, there it is. I have lowered it too because the sound of steps is way over the top in my experience. Give it a try.

That would impede my gameplay, as I rely on sound effects in combat. I have drastically lowered Player Effects Volume > Other PCs and this mitigates the issue somewhat, but this does not work when in an instance--and I use other player's combat sounds to inform my own play. Mass-blacklisting has also mitigated the issue, but not solved it.

To be clear: I did not ask for an option to lower the sound. I asked SE to change or alter the looping of the sound.

The only real solution to the issue of SE handing players a tool that is so easy to use to grief is in SE's hands, hence the request.

I hate to break it to you, but your request will go straight into the void like the other 99% of requests people ask for in the forums. There are third party tools that can help you with that problem or you lower your Sound Effects.

Possible. On the other hand, several small things I've brought to SE's attention have been addressed, so I know they read the forums and do sometimes act on them. This is specifically where SE wants these sorts of suggestions to be made. So I make my request and let it be while making liberal use of /blist add <t>.
