How can we Make Ninjas very very Tanky?

Hey everyone! I'm a sprout and a Ninja. I love the Ninja and doing damage. However, I die or run away a lot. Haha!

Is there a way to make a Ninjas so tanky, they never die or are unkillable (or at least as tanky as an average tank)? Do you know of strategies with your abilities or gear? For example, how do I increase dodge chance?

It can be a discussion; lots of people can benefit from each other. For example, talking about gear may benefit all DPS. But strategies using abilities are also good.

    Thank you for your help!

Well for starters, have a tank in your party.

Sometimes or most of the time, we play alone right? I just want to be reliable when in a party or playing alone. For example, I'm doing main story quests. I want to survive.

Second Wind, bloodbath, potions, shadeshift, or playing a tank.

Spacing out the above well and raising your chocobo as a healer should give you enough to get by for doing stuff on the world map at least.

EDIT: Leg sweep, feint, and arm's length can all be used to reduce incoming damage as well.

I'm sorry to tell you this but in this game a DPS is a DPS, healer is a healer and tanks are tanks.
It doesn't mean you can't do anything about to minimize the situation.
Like the the comment before me, there are skills that you can use to help you survive more.
Second Wind and Bloodbath are skills that every melee DPS have. The former heals about 1/3 of your HP and Bloodbath makes every weaponskill you use heals you by a small percentage.
Additionally, in different areas there are other tools you can use:
In World Map, as in outside of towns, you can have your Chocobo companion to help you in battle. I personally think he acts better as a healer.
In Eureka, on the 3rd and 4th areas, and in Bozja, you will be given area-specific skills that you can choose, including being almost as tanky as a tank.
Unfortunately, in dungeons, trials and raids, you will have to count on your party members for survival.

Thank you for the advice! Also, don't get me wrong; I appreciate you tanks and healers. ^^ Yes, I think I should raise my Chocobo to be healer; that's a good idea.

Edit (I'm adding back what I removed): For Ninjas and Dark Knights, if we increase our vitality, we become more tankish or tanky and increase the value of Shadeshift and some other abilities.

Edit: Hi Brandr, how do I unlock these area-specific skills? For example, who do I see?
Edit 2: Ah these are cool instances or bonus areas. I think I'll figure it out. ^^ And yes, I'll rely on my teammates in Dungeons, Trials and Raids.

Eureka is unlockable as soon as you end the main story quests of Stormblood expansion.
You can read about it here: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/w...n_Land,_Eureka

And Bozja is unlockable after you finish Shadowbringers expansion. Here is the guide:
    https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/w...Southern_Front

These are called Exploration Zones and some rules there are different the the rest of the game, but not too complicated. These are my favorite parts of this game.
