    Please Change Casting Animations/Effect Sizes!!!!!!

    Dear developers:

    I want to enjoy your game, please make casting more interesting! I think an increase in the size of the actual spell effects would go a long way to please the eye.

    example: Casting Water to deal damage to an enemy. I can barely see the water, but when i focus in close I can see HEY!!! It might look cool, if I could see it.. maybe...

    Make the animations a little more interesting too please. The actions my hyun does when he casts any spell is extrrrreeemely boring, not to mention the fact that it is used for EVERY spell.

    I think thats a great idea, they increased monster size and now you can see there special attack easier, I think doing that for spells, and for some abilities would fix the lackluster animations.

    LOL, I alway use Water spell because it's easiest to see the spell

    If you use Aero or Stone... it's just.... WTF? who fart?


    ps. just animation isn't enough! they need to increase damage and make black mages playable

    Here is something I posted in a thread a while ago that might help explain the problem a bit better and some people find the videos amusing when they see what we actually mean about the bad animations.

    Agreed with this.

    Right now, Stone is very lacking, shards of rock that come up from underneath the monster or a large boulder being dropped down ontop would be much better.

    Effect size should change depending on the size of the monster also, so casting stone on a Marmot would look totally different to casting it on a Great Buffalo :P

    I'm not sure making them larger will help bunches. The problem I have with the spell animations is that they're so short - if you blink, you miss them. Making them about a half-second longer would help tremendously, I think.

    The magic effects and animations are terribleeeeeeeeeee, I cannot believe this comes from Square-Enix
    Everytime I cast spells, they only give me some colorful glowing and sparkling !

    OMG ! come one!! Even my Christmas tree can do better than this!

    I think they are fine. This isn't a medival pixie infested fantasy realm out of Ireland. This is a realm similar to that of pirates of the carribean. Also the high end effect spells were not around level 50 but more tward 75 in ffxi.

    To really effect massive spells this early is kinda silly. And I think people should re start ffxi as a newbie and really see how big those effects were.

    And the bigger effect spells were the AOE ones. And the bigger elemental effects were really from avatar 2 hours. Not mage spells.

    You also got to consider theme when it comes to these things. FFXI spells fit the theme since magic was a big part of the game. Infact Windurst ran on magic as a power source. That is not really the case with ffxiv. Though magic is in this land its not really a HUGE part in it. More that people can study it, but that really it. Well at least for the elementals. Time magic seems to play a large part, and might have a bigger part in the game.

    Also the character animations are motion capture and well... >.> ffxi had the same thing all black magic casting was the same, all white magic casting was the same, same for summoning and blue magic.

    Imo sometimes "big buget" effects/ animation kinda get cheesy after a while. After a while ppl just don't care and only care about the dmg it does. Why put in a ton of data in for something that in a year no one will give a flip about. After a week I tuned out my casting in ffxi and just seeing the dmg I do. think the only effects I liked in ffxi was the enspells. And only because they was simple.
