I know why they do it like this. It's to make it extremely simple and easy to get into when you return to the game, so you can jump into Savage or whatever else. But that is a problem for players that play the game more and want it to have more depth.

Ideally they can figure out a way that works for both types of players. But MMORPGs in general usually get this wrong. They swing the pendulum so far towards it being hardcore that casual players can't hope to join the game. Or they swing the pendulum so far towards it being casual that it lacks all depth and soul.
In a weird way FF14 is repeating the mistakes that WoW made. It's catering to the top 5% and the bottom 5%
