I just want them to be of the quailty of Wow's Follower Dungeons. It's so much better in just about every way.

They have better AI. You don't have to run tanks into mobs to get them to attack. They take optimal paths and can be set to run ahead of you. They will give you visible blue arrow markers to guide you in the right way
Though that's not important since 14 is all hallway dungeons. And to top all of that off, you can play with friends as long as one of the bots is present.

They are so good it makes Trusts look embarrassing in comparison.

But also, no, stick them in story only content.

I don't do Extremes and up. Don't care either way, but it would ruin the point of them entirely. Even as a filthy casual, the point is to overcome the odds together and complete the challenge. Even with randoms, it's the same, but I would imagine less comradery. But still not a job for bots. Play Elden Ring. I promise you it will be a better single-player experience.

MMOs have always accommodated a mix of solo and group content. Duty Finder is one of the best things about FF14, but I also enjoy Trusts, and they coexist perfectly well. I don't think Ultimate would ever be Trustable (and if you want to "practice" there are websites for that). But I can imagine enjoying the Eden raid with Thancred and Urianger, which at this point is almost all (nearly? just assuming) soloable in any case, or even the newer raids. Making content Trust enabled allows them to better control difficulty over time. It was disconcerting to spend 3 hours preparing to fight Titan only to have him die in 10 seconds in Duty Finder. Or the infamous Praetorium/Castrum instances which are now infinitely improved as well.

Honestly. For anxiety issues that are very common nowadays. There should be an toggle button for hiding other players.
I think that is honestly the way.

i was going to say this and even the FFXI trust system was a bit better because even though it was a different system you can combo and burst off the FFXI trust system and choose and pick your npc trust from a swath of collected trust not just a predetermined set.
